The Women take the course for the 2nd time in the Spring Season this Sunday. The 14 team Westbrook in Peoria, Az is familiar territory as the team finished 5th last year. Teams will play 36 holes Sunday with the final 18 Monday.

Rutgers comes off their best '23-'24 result last time out, finishing T4 with Wisconsin and Indiana and 9 strokes ahead of Iowa. Wisconsin is host this week with Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota also entered. #32 USF, who won that previous event and one other where RU participated this season, is the highest ranked team in the field. They are followed by #40 Kansas and #43 Colorado State. Rutgers comes in at #103. The other 10 teams are ranked between #52 and #94.

Although the starters haven't been announced, I'd assume it will be the same 5 that have played all along in Leigha Devine, Rikke Nordvik, Cathi Graf, and the Rossettin sisters, Luczezia and Lorena.

After Round 1 #103 Rutgers is in 11th place after shooting a team 287 (-1). Rutgers was led by the duo of Lucrezia Rossettin's 2 Under 70 which included an Eagle on the Par 4 8th Hole. At 1 point she was 4 Under but caught a couple Bogeys near the end. She stands T20th. Cathi Graf also shot 70 with 5 Birdies and 3 Bogies so is also T20. Leigha Devine found herself +4 after 13 holes but responded with 4 consecutive birdies on her 14th thru 17th holes to finish with an Even Par 72. Frosh Lorena Rossettin carded a 75 and Rikki Nordvik a 76. Frosh Krystal Li, playing as an individual, also went under par with a 2 Under 70.

The Top 5

T1. #40 Kansas..............-11
T1. #76 Wisconsin........-11
3. #53 Oklahoma..........-10
4. #67 Nebraska.............-9
5. #82 Missouri...............-8

The other B1G teams were T12th, #94 Iowa (+1) and 14th, #52 Minnesota (+4)

The 2nd Round should be well under way.

First the good news.....Leigha Devine picked up where she left off on Round 1, shooting a 7 UNDER 65. Her card shows 1 Eagle, 7 Birdies, 8 Pars and 2 Bogeys. Her 65 is the lowest round so far in the tourney and according to the Rutgers Record Book, the lowest round and lowest under par in at least 12 years which is as far as the record book goes. She's currently T6, 3 strokes off the lead in a tightly bunched leaderboard. Devine will be in RU's Top 5 in most categories by the time her career is over this Spring.

Along with Devine, Lorena Rossettin shot a 2 Under 70. Cathi Graf and Rikke Nordvik shot 2 Over 74's and Lucrezia Rossettin a 78. Krystal Li, playing as an individual, shot a 1 Over 73. She is the next best RU player on the leaderboard, after Devine at T40 (-1).

Despite Devine, Rutgers didn't change position, standing T11 with North Florida at -6 going into tomorrow's final round.

Top 5

1. #40 Kansas............-30
2. #53 Oklahoma.......-23
T3. #72 Wisconsin.....-16
T3. #58 Kansas St......-16
T3. #82 Missouri........-16
T3. #67 Nebraska......-16

Iowa (-8) is 10th and Minnesota (-4) is 13th

In today's final round, Leigha Devine again led RU. Her 4 Under 68 (6 Birdies and 2 Bogeys) helped her finish 10 Under and T6, 4 strokes behind champion, Chloe Chan from Wisconsin. In her last 45 holes Devine shot -15 but it was not enough. After that Lucrezia Rossettin contributed a nice 3 Under 69 and Rikke Nordvik also shot under par with a 70. Cathi Graf shot a 2 Over 74 and Lorena Rossetin a 75. Playing as an individual Krystal Li shot 75. RU's team 7 Under round was not enough to move up or hold their position as they dropped 1 spot to 12th out of 14. A small positive is the team entered ranked 14th in the field so they did a little better than perhaps expected.

In the same tourney last year, RU finished 5th with a score of 3 Under. Needless to say scores were a lot different this year.

Top 5 Teams

1. Kansas..........-43
2. Oklahoma....-37
3. Wisconsin....-34
4. USF................-28
5. Nebraska......-26

Minnesota finished 8th (-18) and Iowa 9th (-17), Rutgers was -10

The Women next play 3/11-12 at the Briar's Creek Invitational in John's Island, SC.
