Rutgers Wrestling Previews No. 1 Penn State

Any chance you guys can keep Abro away from the booze this year? We don’t need a repeat of last season...

Well it is a Sunday afternoon match, so maybe Abro will not be sipping his cocktails!! Lol, I sorta like it when he is boozing and posting!! We had one small flare up last season, but he is passionate fan.

Reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. Snowflakes on other boards , and a few here as well, need to put some pickle brine on their skin, it will toughen it up. Besides, those other boards have so many technical issues I can no longer access them. Only here (and on Scout's Rutgers 247) can you wonderful RU wrestling fans benefit from my Match Threads, match updates, somewhat researched, educated opinions, rants, raves, discussions, and pontifications. And that's just for RU Wrestling. I also go full bore into NCAA wrestling, NJ HS Wrestling, USA HS Wrestling, Olympic Wrestling, and International Wrestling (except Roman Greco).

Just finishing up a grueling week of BS Corporate work involving unnecessary Sales Analysis, bull crap sales reports, Skype meetings, in person meetings, team meetings, Personal Planning, Development planning, and at 4 training on our new expense reporting system (switching from GEMS to Concur.).

Tonight at 7 on BTN TV - Minn vs Penn St

It's nice to be mentioned, no matter how harshly, lol. Who said there is no such thing as bad publicity? I will sometimes challenge that assertion.

Now also planning the beverage menu for 5pm.. will start with a Makers Mark Manhatten. But only 1. A Dogfish Head 90 probably next.

Enjoy the wrestling weekend !

Are you gonna be at PSU? I owe you a drink from a previous bet.

Probably, but honestly, I don't remember the bet, lol. I have a seat mid upstairs, but angling for a ticket downstairs .

Anybody got 1 extra for downstairs? I promise not to be too crazy, lol. And will buy the first beer at Olde Queens Tavern !

Love having you back. At least we will see high quality wrestling on Sunday although it will not be in our favor.

Thanks Bill! And thanks to you and Dave Bugen I became a member of the SKWC last summer.

PS for all attending the Penn St match-

“Due to the anticipated high volume of traffic around the RAC on match day, Rutgers Athletics will implement the below traffic pattern beginning at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
  • Traffic turning onto Hospital Road from Ave E will be advised to create two lanes, with those having Green Lot, VIP and Handicapped Access to the right lane, while those purchasing match day parking directed to the left lane.
  • Hospital Road will be closed at Suttons Lane, with signage directing visitors to Rockafeller Road, where Country Club Parking will be assigned.
  • After the match, Hospital Road will be split, as exiting traffic will be sent toward Ave. E and Suttons Lane. Traffic exiting from the Yellow Lot to Rockafeller Road will be permitted to go left or right. “

Finally. Its amazing how long it took them to implement the most common sense plan imaginable.

I just saw the B1G commercial watching the psu vs. Minny match. How the hell did we get depicted as the old grandma. We got the only family member who looks like she's about to kick the bucket. I mean couldn't we at least have been the redheaded stepchild. I think that depiction is more representative of our B1G membership so far.

I am not into moral wins. BUT I like each wrestler to fight their ass off. Your going against the best. You will know where you need to improve after this match. We all know it is an uphill War. But each individual battle win or lose will make us better.

And, only 25 takedowns more to have as many as PSU.
Nobody is saying Rutgers has a better team. Rutgers was completely outmatched tonight. We don't have a single returning All American in the lineup going against a team with five returning national champions. However, our fans are proud that their team came out to wrestle.

They came out with attitude and were solid as heck hand fighting and ankle grabbing. They had zero offense moving forward and rarely shot through the hands to the legs.

They showed grit and fortitude, but they were tickled to wrestle to keep it close. There wasn't a whole lot of wrestling to win going on.

This post highlights the intelligence of a Penn State fan.
Actually, my post highlighted the ridiculousness of yours. You were only "two takedowns away from upset." The takedown battle was won by PSU 38-13. Suriano had 6 of those, so that leaves your 9 other wrestlers with 7 takedowns, less than one takedown per RU wrestler per match. PSU had more than one takedown per period, on average. So, technically, your comment is true, but realistically, it was never going to happen.

Score was 23-15 ... Lewis takedown means a win and PSU 20-18 ... Gravina takedown means another win and it’s RU 21-17 ... so yeah, 2 takedowns away. Was expecting something like PSU 33-8.

Thank you for making it so simple for him. I don't think anyone has said PS wrestling team is not an awesome team, it is. But to deny that RU just needed one more takedown by Lewis and Gravina and we steal the match is just plain ignorant. I know , shoulda , coulda, woulda but to deny it was not true is crazy.
It is like saying in football "just because he dropped the pass in the endzone to win it , we still had 10 more first downs then you, so you could have never won".
Never going to happen? Bo was running from Gravina in the last 30 seconds and I think he forgets the Lewis is a very good wrestler on his own.

Is the only reason we were close was because of the injury default, absolutely but things happen in sports and that is why upsets happen. LAst but not least I hope the kid has a full recovery and can finish out the year.

25-15, but who's counting?

We can play this game all day...

IF Nolf doesn't get injured, and VB keeps it to a decision, the score is 28-9.
If Nolf does what he normally does, and pins or techs VB, it's 30- or 31-9. And, if you don't think that's possible, you haven't watched Nolf enough.
IF Lewis and IF Gravina get a TD, you guys win. Point is, Lewis didn't have a TD in the whole match, and Gravina had one off a counter.

Rutgers came to wrestle even though they were way outmatched. It seems that the fans of the other team didn't like that. Every team should just roll over and get pinned for them and if that doesn't happen, they start whining.

Why are we feeding this moron ..he won’t give credit where credit is due ...check the PSU forum ..all crying about how RU is dirty and how ref was reason they didn’t wrestle to their expectations ....all pins and techs lol.....was Deluca over the top ..maybe so but no way was JVB dirty or anyone else for that matter ...Nolf is constantly in funk positions and this time the worst happened ..nothin dirty just wrestling and no way was JVB getting pinned or teched ..he was matching point for point until the injury and RL and NG certainly weren’t getting teched or pinned either .... he’ll the ref gave them every call all day and they are the ones crying ..was Grello back points given even tho replay clearly showed he deserved them ..no ...if so that would have been closer score too ..why is the guy even here if all he does is knock RU ....time to clear out some of the PSU trash
