Ryder Cup Sunday 11am stories and pairings:

Westwood, Sullivan and Wood are the underbelly , we should be able to expose

I think it would hard to blow a 9 1/2 - 6 1/2 lead. The crowd is already going crazy.

McElroy not handling the obnoxious hecklers well.

'Matters appeared to reach breaking point as the golfer made his way between the seventh and eighth holes when a fan yelled at him to “suck a d***”
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...balls-foursome-final-day-sunday-a7341481.html

When Garcia hit yesterday morning, I heard a heckler yell out:
'Habla Ingles ? " . LOL, not good.

Awesome match. McIlroy is giving as good as he gets. Him complaining is trite.

As he said yesterday, it's the exact same for Americans in Europe.

U S A!

Lefty vs Garthia was epic.

He shot a 63 and still didnt win. Wow

Euros not having Poulter definitely great for us. And so happy that Moore factored so big in the win. Always loved his grit going back to before he turned pro.

So happy we finally brought the cup home!!

Still can't get over Rory's reactions out there. The dude is a $500 million brand, no way he should have gone all Braveheart on the US fans who he'll be playing in front of for the next 20 years. Incredible to see. Took 10 years to build his brand and three days to tear it apart. He'll be heckled everywhere, forever, after that.

The great Jack Nicklaus once faced a similar situation in a four day, head to head dual vs. Arnold Palmer in Palmer's backyard at Oakmont, for the US Open. The fans were calling him all sorts of nasty things, all week. Yelling during his back swing, the whole nine yards.

Palmer was apologizing to him and Nicklaus would say back to Palmer, "What are you apologizing for, I didn't hear anything." His caddie asked him, "How can you not hear all the names and what they're screaming at you?" Nicklaus: "Because I'm out here playing golf!" To this today, he maintains he didn't hear a word of it which is BS but the only classy way to handle a bad situation.

The guy was and is a genius. Rory? Not so much.

That said, is there a better sporting event than the Ryder Cup?

Somebody said Bill Murray was one of the loudest "cheerleaders" out there. LOL

I think 99.9% of the people thought what Rory did was funny. After the round he was gracious and congratulating the US team long before the event was settled. He built his brand yesterday not deterred from it.

You're way off base that Rory damaged his brand. In fact the reaction is the complete opposite. He showed to be respectfulto Reed after he made his own putt and he laughed at Reeds Mutumbo finger wave. Then they both fist pumped leaving the green. Great theater and great sportsmanship.

Glad you guys feel that way and certainly many more like you out there but trust me, many, many golf fans will be heckling him for years to come, everywhere he goes. Dude was unhinged, people will not forget no matter how he tries to spin it after the fact.

When hes not on the Ryder Cup he's one of the most popular players on the Tour. Your crazy if you think that is going to change after this Ryder Cup where his play on Sunday was nothing short of spectacular.

Fair enough, it won't take long to see the level of repercussions.

Reed is a looney tunes, loner with personality disorder issues. Rory, arguably the most marketable guy in the game. Big difference.

In sports, it's always best to ignore the fans. Rory stopped just short of telling them to all go f8ck themselves out there this weekend, no matter what he said once he calmed down and sat in front of the cameras. It's not good for business as you will see.

Average Joe golfers buy shit Rory endorses.
Average Joe golfers trash talk non stop on the golf course.
Average Joe golfers loved Rory's behavior.

I liked all of Rory's comments afterwards. When he was asked if they should stop selling or curtail beer sales at the matches he said no, because if he were not playing and just a spectator, he'd be putting back a few too.

As someone above said Rory was very gracious and was shown hanging out with Fowler and a couple other US players after it was decided. Not shown on TV but apparently he went nose to nose with a heckler who was eventually tossed out. No one has been willing to say what got Rory so angry other than it was really personal and nasty.

It was also reported the two teams got together and hung out on the course hoisting a few after all the spectators had left.

The good feelings didn't include Phil and Sergio before, during, and after their match. That's a real shame after what was the greatest match I've ever seen. 19 birdies between the two including both birdieing 17 and 18 to keep it all square.

The B1G was well represented by the Euro's rookie Thomas Pieters (Illinois). He's going to be a big star. US Vice Capt Steve Stricker is also an Illini alum.

A few fans are d-bags everywhere - the people who heckle at the Ryder Cup are the same guys who boo college athletes. Aside from that, was great theater - the Phil-Sergio match was epic - nice to see the US get the Cup back...

very interesting....

Jesper Parnevik:
"I see Tiger at the Medalist. We talk and have played nine holes together," Parnevik tells Golf Digest senior writer Guy Yocom. "By the way, he's been hitting a lot of balls, and he's hitting it great. He's pounding it a mile and flushing everything. On the range, at least, his trajectory and ball flight are like the Tiger we knew 15 years ago. Comebacks are never a sure thing, but something tells me his might be spectacular."

Last time I saw Tiger hit a ball was at the presser for his tourney several months ago. He hit 3 shots all short into the pond in front of the green.

I'll be very interested to see how he makes out at The Safeway. I'm thinking how quiet he's been about this latest comeback may mean he's back to the old Tiger and ready to surprise everyone.

I saw those shots, too. His whole movement seemed to completely lack the fluidity of youth and resembled something you'd see from someone who was older and had been in a very bad car accident.

But Jesper saw what he saw. A spectacular Tiger comeback? That would be something.

Lets review:

On Friday, he finished his day with an eagle, then bowed mockingly at the crowd, before going into the press area and saying he was "Saying you're welcome for the show."

On Saturday, he screamed, shouted and shook his fist at his playing opponents and the crowd, all day long. He challenged a patron to fight, saying, "Hey, if you want to back that up, I'm right here!" Then went into the press tent and said, "The more they shouted at us the better we played. I hope they shout at us all day tomorrow."

He was baiting the crowd all day again on Sunday. I get that it's the Ryder Cup and there is a bit more leeway for emotion but he just blew past all the boundaries. Just two short years ago, Reed shushed once in three days and it was a huge story. How do you escalate where Rory took it to? Start making BJ gestures into the side of their cheeks?

Part of the definition of professional is:
"exhibiting a courteous, conscientious, and generally businesslike manner in the workplace."

Could you imagine what they'd be saying about Tiger if he went over to Europe and shook his fists at the crowd, screamed at them and challenged someone to a fight? Good God, he'd be getting crucified.

Give him a pass if you want. He's a good guy but I'll enjoy watching him get heckled from here on out. When you're unprofessional, you bring it on yourself.
