Sadexcuse RU dumpster fire running thread...

I like how they refer to Ash as a "defensive minded meathead". I get it, they had a defensive minded guy who was just fired and now have an offensive minded HC and they are happy about it. Kudos to them. Babers is a good fit for them, Ash is a good fit for us. Let's revisit this in 4 years and see who is where. I'm not saying we will come out top, just saying let's revisit it then. I personally think SU will score points but will routinely give up more than they score. Remember, they are going to be a pass-heavy spread attempting to go no huddle, a la Washington State. We will be a run-first, read option spread offense. I prefer our system to theirs.

In one generation there won't really be a "Syracuse." It will look more like SUNY-CUSE.

No way they keep their academic standards and "upper echelon private school for rich Tri-State area kids," reputation. Good luck with that expensive tuition.

Without a good football team, they lose their cachet. BIG TIME.

BBall will be good, buy who know after Boeheim retires. Even after that, they will just be another BBall school at best.

How the hell can they do 116 pages of posts on Rutgers if we are so irrelevant ?

Please, Please, Please do not berate Wake Forest, as they are a very good educational institution who should never we placed in the same category as this BB factory
A three year 116 page thread, and were not even in the same conference.Amazing.
That is a lot of sour grapes.
The kicker is, a lot of their success came from the "Jersey connection" the talent they hauled out of here through the years really elevated their program. The reality is we have beat them 7 out of the last ten times we played them, but the overall record is 12 -30-1.
When we started keeping more of our kids home our program became competitive and their team fell into obscurity. No wonder their pissed., but 116 pages?

Sorry didn't know you guys didn't know the ratings system. A 5.7 is a high three star, a 5.6 is a mid level 3 star, and a 5.5 is a low three star. I am saying we will end up with at least 4 three star recruits by next Monday one of which is a high three star.
This may help them understand the rating system and also see who's visiting and has visited already.

And here's an explanation of the Rivals rating system.

Is Syracuse the worst program in the Power 5 at this point? I only knew they once had a good program from reading this board. I knew 100 years ago they had Jim Brown, but that's so long ago it doesn't even count. Plus he's a wife beating turd. When was the last time they put a good team together? People my age strictly know them as a Siberian rust belt bball school.

Ah, better hold up on that 'wife beating turd' comment it may turn around and bite us in the >>>.

For kids today it is ancient history but Donovan McNabb lead them to the Orange Bowl.

Back to the dump on Cuse stuff: In NJ a couple of feet of snow is record breaking news. In Syracuse it is any week from October to April.

2012 They were good enough to share a conference title with rutgers

In the next 8 days we will add AT LEAST one 5.7 ***, two 5.6 ***, and a 5.5 ***. Its not going to get us to the Rose Bowl next year, but it will sure as hell blow right by Syracuse's class.

What about the 50:50 6.0, and the couple of 75:25 5.8s? :)

Syracuse is such in the rearview mirror. We need to focus on Ohio St., Michigan, PSU ect.
Who focuses on them? They barely come up here on this board. They're the ones who have an epic thread concerning us that never ends. It's a weird obsession. You look foolish liking his post money when you're over here posting on this board. You can't get enough of us. Move on broheim. Live in the now.

Money, you're a sad, mousy little troll, aren't ya. Not particularly entertaining or worthy of much reaction. Just kind of ... there. Like Syracuse itself.

The remaining handful of SU football fans - survivalists in a frozen wasteland - blame the collapse of their program on RU getting serious about FB. Good. Call off the rescue mission and let's move on.

I've always loved savage D/ST's oriented east coast FB and pro set style smash mouth running attack FB with the occasional ''dagger'' pass when you least expect it .....i'm pretty traditional in a tradition rich sport..i'm not crazy about but like the occasional gimmick play thrown in when needed...

He took MAC level players to Syracuse? Excellent. Ironically that's probably the league Syracuse belongs in. They may score points, run it up on bad teams and be fun to watch but they will give up 40+ points per game. In hindsight, Marone was probably their best hope to return to relevance. Coached the team up and they played with a level of toughness and physicality under him. I doubt "The Babe" will bring that mentality. No he's going to bring his west coast vibe to the Siberia of college football. What a match!
Naah - they will be fine in the ACC. Not winning it all fine - but getting 6 or 7 wins by winning 50-49 fine.

I followed SYR during this timeframe (I grew up in Cooperstown NY).
Loved him as a college QB.

Moved to NJ in 1991 and have followed Rutgers ever since.
Don't hate Syracuse like most of the people here, but I don't think they will have a top football team for a long time.
Too hard to recruit to the area and not enough recent history to attract a top coach to bring recruits.
If a coach does well at Syracuse, I expect him the coach to move to a bigger school if the offers come.
