SB Nation: Why Rutgers and Purdue make the most sense as Big 12 expansion candidates

Love the misnomer that this is a very serious blog post on a serious website. They lost me right there.

Camon man this article can't be serious. Purdue????? How long have the been on the B1G?
Nothing needs to be said about RU leaving for the B12... does it?

Guys, check out the source and relax. It's from an Indiana blogger who clearly has 2 thoughts on his mind - kill their primary in-state rival and kill a division rival that will beat them (like everyone else) every year.

They really hate losing to us, don't they? LOL

A Kyle Flood coached team owned Kevin Wilson and Indiana. And we b-slapped them in the 4th quarter last year without our best player, Carroo.
I like our chances this year.

I've got a better idea. Move Ohio State and Michigan into the B12. Then move Purdue into the B1G East. That way B12 and B1G both have 12 teams and RU has a better path to the B1G championship game. How's that?

Did you see the alignment proposed ? We' d make a bowl every year and win our division once every three.

I can see IU fans are really basking in the glory of going to the their 2nd bowl game in 20 years. If I were them I'd enjoy it too. History says it could be awhile before the next one.

In a world where the Big Ten didn't come knocking to Rutgers, this might have been something. But I'm sure everyone would have preferred the ACC over the Big 12.

What's amazing is that, with all the material to work with, the article just isn't that funny.

What's funnier are the people who don't realize it.

I thought the "guaranteed win for Texas" in each teams "pros" category and the cupcake division Texas would be in thus approving of the 2 teams was pretty funny. Other than that I guess maybe they were trying to pass it off as serious to get all the gullible people riled up.

"Thus, why choose Memphis or BYU when you can have Rutgers? It's the birthplace of college football, you know. I've heard reports that they have a men's basketball team as well, but at the time of publication this has not been confirmed"

I LOLed [laughing]

Do it.

We belong with the Mountaineers.

We should plead with Big 10 to let us go.
