There has been the typical offseason grousing that we aren’t winning as much as we should. This is meant to address that.
Provide Schiano adequate support, and he’ll win as much as you desire. He was recruiting mostly 4 and 5 ⭐️ at Miami and Ohio State. His protege, Mario Cristobal at Miami, just landed arguably the #1 recruit in the country, a 5 ⭐️ OL by the name of Jackson Cantwell of Missouri. Rutgers was never a consideration, because our value proposition isn’t strong enough. Even though our location is excellent.
At Rutgers, the typical recruit is 3 ⭐️, though the caliber of recruit we are getting seems to be improving year after year. What’s the biggest difference between Rutgers, Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State, and Miami? The fans desire for success. Winning is not as big a priority here, and that hampers recruiting. Most of the fanbase thinks that all you need to do is pay for your tickets and parking. **Newsflash** That’s not enough.
Unlike the head coaches at Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State, Schiano hasn’t been provided with the tools needed to be successful.
Even Maryland and Syracuse have Fieldhouses which have been built recently, supported by a significant amount of privately raised funds. They also have stronger NIL support.
Rutgers Fieldhouse designs are complete. But there is no money to build.
So in typical Rutgers fashion, we will do the best we can, with what we have, noting there is a significant talent discrepancy with the top of the conference. That means we will typically win 5-9 games a year. That is a significant improvement from the 2-5 win band we were performing at, under Chris Ash.
Most years we will fall somewhere in the middle of the range. This year, we might have a chance to do better if we get lucky with injuries, thx to a mature roster, and better depth, especially at Quarterback. Who wants to depend on luck? I’d prefer to have the support to win 10-12 games. Unfortunately, the fanbase desire just isn’t there.
So I feel resigned to our fate of mediocrity.

- A Fieldhouse
- Michigan has two
- Adequate NIL support
- There is some support but not enough to win Championships
Even Maryland and Syracuse have Fieldhouses which have been built recently, supported by a significant amount of privately raised funds. They also have stronger NIL support.

- We need to raise $75M for Construction to start
- This could be accomplished with 750 people donating $100K over 5 years ($25K per year)
