How many years does he have left to collect Tampa $$$?

(And no, this isn't a Fire Flood thread, I'm just curious and don't feel like googling it right now.)

Schiano had a five-year, $15 million contract that had three years left on it. Fired December 2013. Contract ends December 2016?

Not that hard to find. Easier than making a new post.

I know, I was just being lazy and was curious about when he'd get serious about getting a new position somewhere. Thanks.

Here is a good read on what Schiano is doing by his buddy Peter King. It doesn't sound like he is waiting out his contract.

Article is from November, 2014 when Greg thought he was in the mix for a job for the 2015 season. Looks like someday his best may be good enough to get him a real job. But not now. As we know finding a job is a process and at the end of the season Greg will be a better coach than at the beginning of the season. Because his goal is to improve every day. Once Tampa's severance package runs out we can expect Greg to land something, somewhere, some how.

Don't forget, he's still young.

He's young. It's a process. Some day his best will be good enough to beat out the best in the business for a coaching job. Even if he gets a few dings along the way he just needs to put his nose to the grind stone and keep on chopping!

I think he may have skipped a step when he became an NFL HC...

Despite some who knock him Schiano has earned the respect of plenty of people involved with College football because of the way he improved the RU FB program.
I wouldn't be surprised if a P-5 school hired him to rebuild their FB program.
I don't think he will be a candidate for one of the top schools ( except the U, if Golden is bought out) , but a school like
Illinois comes to mind.
A Florida mid major could overtake a p-5 school, if the price is right and Schiano feels the p-5 school's salary and/or years is to
low for what the job will require to make that program successful.A pro DC position also might be a option Greg takes, he is a respected defensive minded coach, even if their might be some that don't feel he deserves that respect.

Right now he'll keep his name out there and interact with his College and Pro connections, getting ready for when he decides to go back to coaching ( right now looks like when TB pay ends) and chose the program that he feels is the best fit for him as a coach.

Until that happens ,all we have is this:

to hold on to, when Greg is being discussed :p

George O'Leary probably won't coach UCF more than another year or 2. Not sure if they have a HC like some programs do, but Schiano could be the right guy to lead them into a P5 conference. Heck , maybe he could hire Pernetti again to be the AD like he did at RU. Worked out pretty well.

Schiano is more of an entrepreneur, a ground breaker - he would be excellent at jumping into a place that might be considered a "project" a place that either never had a history of success - or it was so long ago that it seems like a legend. Of course he is now at a point where this would have to be a place that was able to spend - and would eagerly embrace his plans without loading him with layers of bureaucracy.

My opinion:
George is UCF's interim AD until the end of 2015 and I don't think UCF would hire Greg if O'Leary's status changes to permant.
Both are used to full control and doubt either one would agree to power sharing.

Greg probably would be able to work for most ADs , but might have trouble with one that was a FB HC and want a lot of say on how the FB program would be run.
Most brand name HCs are the same. give them control of the program and let them run it the way they see fit.
Most ADs will allow that from an experienced HC that is highly respected , but want more input when the HC they hire hasn't made a name for himself yet.
Schiano falls under the experienced name brand classification that expects full control of the program he's hired to run

USF, Illinois or Purdue might be a home for GS.

His least likely position would be a DC in the NFL as I don't see him wanting to work for any HC. Greg needs to be in control - no matter what that article implies. He just isn't going to change that much.

He did not draw any real interest last year as college HC.

I remember reading somewhere he was going to try and get back into coaching in 2015,but don't know if that meant looking to get a coaching position in 2015 or start looking for a 2016 job at the end of 2015 season.

But in any case, can't deny :"He did not draw any real interest last year as college HC." to my knowledge.

The story on si.com was basically an infomercial for the new and improved GS, he was looking for a gig for the 2015 season.

When it comes to Greg being a HC again I'm sorry but I'm from Missouri. Show me.
