Selection Committee and Rutgers news

They're not considering it a win. They're considering it a piece of the puzzle if it comes down to us or some other teams trying to snag the last spot(s)

To put it another way, they're not ignoring the fact that we should have won BUT our record is our record. It's a little bonus. Instead of 18 wins think of it like we have 18.1 wins.

I've already stated this as part of the equation and resume in terms of Road wins, Q1 and where RU would stand at 19-12. If not for the debacle in Minnesota, this is a 20 win outfit.

The body of work is overwhelming in comparison to some other bubble teams. I do believe that RU has to show up and play well Thursday afternoon to remove any doubts and a win probably pushes them into 100% category.

Agree.

I'll play conspiracy theorist......

Why even post this now. The committee could already have Rutgers penciled in the tournament now. They might be getting out in front of the game in case they lose and don't have to answer the question after the game.

Why bother even making the statement if it is merely a tiebreaker?

I missed the part where the NCAA came out and said that Rutgers won the game or that they are the ones who leaked the info to Aaron and not say ESPN.

I'm happy it's being considered but I don't think the NCAA currently views us as having 19 wins.

would be great news, but we really need to beat Michigan and not limp in miraculously playing as bad as anyone in America.

Need a spark. Paul can't play more than 15 minutes. Cliff can't hit the bench at 15:30 so that Dickinson abuses Rieber again for a 10-0 run. Would rather lose with Derek being agressive than turning the ball over every time we get double teamed.

Obviously I know as much as you about this. Why does a statement need to be made if it isn't a bracket changing event.

Pike would bring in Wolf for Cliff and it appears (knock on wood!!!) Wolf has figured out how we want to hedge the screens

That’s a big deal. We’d have 5 road conference wins, along with a win at MSG.
Even if it’s not a win, maybe they just remove the loss. That’s still a big deal

Massive deal. This consideration I think gets us a last bye and definitely a play in regardless of the outcome Thursday.

Sounds like an extra bullet point on the notes section to me. Better than nothing I suppose, but doubt it moves the needle. Here’s the issue, even if the refs made the correct call, RU would have gotten the ball back with time on the clock. I don’t see how the committee can simply call that a win.

Now all this does is make Sunday even more nerve wracking. It's kind of an unknown now.

Do they count it as a win? Which basically puts us in the field.

Do they just take it into consideration?

Or does it not really change anything at all but they are just saying the right things?
I think it’s a tie-breaker but not a win. As someone said, doesn’t currently give us 19 wins, gives us 18.1.

Don’t think this news is going to be a huge difference.

Same scenario as yesterday…we must win Thursday

Agree. NCAA is getting ahead of this.

You won’t get an official statement. . It’s something that leaked and all that was said “it would be considered “

leaked by who and to whom, just Aaron or others, this is important so to bite on this, I need to know EVERYTHING....like all kinds of context of why it was being sad, was just out of the blue, who is the person, is it just someone that told someone that told someone and so on and so on

Waiting for someone to make the “he heard it at Subway” joke.

Got to follow the story. I am sure other bracket guys will weigh in on what they think this means.

I am guessing this means we are penciled in. A bad loss to Michigan (which seems inevitable) probably still gets us to Dayton at least
