semi ot - NY high school basketball

I was peeking at the Max preps top 25. There are 3 NJ teams (St Pats, St Anthony's, and Roselle Catholic) but not 1 NY team. IS NYC HS basketball down?

It's been down for about 15-20 years. The best nyc players usually look for prep schools in NJ (or beyond). Also, the era of the city producing basketball talent is long gone.. you just don't see the interest level with kids in the city these days, for several reason. Cities like LA and Houston produce comparatively much more NBA level players than nyc.

I am curious too since some of the NYC private schools have been very good over the years. I remember teams like Archibishop Malloy (Lew Alcinder) and Christ the King (Lamar Odom) being top teams year in and year out.
