SESSION 1 NCAA Wrestling Thread: Noon, ESPNU, ESPN3, WRSU all mats free:

Gravina loses 3-2. Almost pulled it out. Got very close on a take down, Coach G challenged but it was overrulled.

So did Glasgow.... Practice work is one thing....Now don't get me wrong... I thought wrestling Glasgow all year was the right move... Think he learned a lot about himself... Really want to see him redshirt next year and then go 3 yrs at 157....

Micic also looked perfectly healthy in his match today and in the post match interview said he felt great. Ever see Glasgow look healthy in a match ? I hope Glasgow gets over his physical and possible mental obstacles regarding the knee too, but the jury is now very much out on him as a big contributor.

True Abro…. I'm focusing on the potential that I see from him.... I STRONGLY feel that if he SHIRTS next year and focuses on getting used to 157 that he can come back in '20-'21 as not only an AA contender, but a NC contender... But that is my OPINION based on what I believe his ceiling is...

Whoever officiated the DeSanto match should be looked into, lol. I've never seen, or even heard of a 1st period DQ in college, let alone at Nationals.
The official called I think 5 stalls on the DeSanto's opponent, 1 time calling 2 stall calls within about 3 seconds. Wow.
Was it Terry Brands brother in law? lol

Hey, Jersey Boys! We are in S20 by mats 1 & 2. I think we are diagonally across from you. I will look when I get back for Session II.

We went back to hotel to take a break as all this wrestling watching has me tired, haha! It’s hopping here at the hotel, too. They set up a beer on tap kiosk in Lobby entrance and the bar is only 10 feet away. There’s a line for 4 elevators but they let all the wrestlers cut the line which was pretty cool.

Onto Session II, doors open at 6pm. A little cloudy with chance of light rain so I expect lines to move a little faster.

Hope to see you and everyone at the social!

That weight class officiating is strange. Meanwhile, Ash couldn’t get a 2nd stall call if he begged for 5 minutes....

I watched the match it was some bad officiating. It was like watching Sumo wrestling. Desanto, was just trying to bull straight forward and the tactic worked the ref just kept calling stalling. No real shot attempts except early in the 1st 30 secs. Honestly it didn't even resemble a wrestling match at all. Just who could push who off the mat.

I just rewatched it, Ref #22 called the match. He called the first stall literally about 12 seconds in, and you are right, DeSanto just pushed the kid out without attempting a takedown. I think Ref 22 had the Iowa coaches in his ear. He calls the next 3 so fast that the commentators couldn't keep up with the calls, and both DeSanto and the other kid were shocked the match was over, and the commentators were in shock too, as they hadn't noticed so many stall calls so fast, lol
Maybe Official 22 needed to run to a bathroom, lol All jokes aside, that was so bizarre the Officiating committee needs to review that match.
