Tournament Thread: NCAA Wrestling Championships Session 5, Saturday 11 am

We are not going to finish in the top 10. Too many schools nipping at our heels that have wrestlers still in the consolations and finals. I think we place anywhere between 12 to 14. ASU wins these next 2 bouts they jump us as well. The free fall will start now.
Huh? Stop being ridiculous. Free fall is a little overly dramatic. We're up 3.5 on ASU, 5 on OKST and 4.5 on SDSU. OKST is done and ASU and SDSU each have 1 finalist, like us. SDSU needs bonus points to pass us. Suriano and Valencia win and we stay in 10th.

Team Scores
1 Ohio State 130.5
2 Penn State 121.5

HUH???

Awesome post and info !!!

Thanks! I neglected to post Princeton's All Americans - 11 thus far, with 1 champ (Glass, 1951, unlimited) and multiple finalists (Deliere, 1972; Sefter, 1978; Orr, 1984 and 1985; and Parker, 2002).

Some multiple AAs, most recently Kolodzik, who is only a sophomore (7th and 3rd).

I'm very familiar with Kolodzik, his close matches vs Ashnault last year, and from his time at Blair (he's from Towaco or Montville in Morris County, I think).
I'm originally from Hackettstown, my niece is a junior , plays softball there, and dates or dated one of the wrestlers there. So I hear about Blair wrestling all the time, lol.

PS- it will be interesting to see how Pat Glory does his first year there. I'm guessing an NCAA qualifier his first year, and possibly get to the Blood Round, if not better. He needs to get stronger, IMO.

PLACEMENT POINTS1st place: 16 points
2nd place: 12 points

BONUS POINTS

Each fall, forfeit, default, disqualification: 2 points
Each tech fall (w/ near fall points): 1.5 points
Each tech fall (w/o near fall points): 1 point
Each major decision: 1 point

So RU is in 10th at the conclusion of Session 5.w 42.5 points. With Suriano in a huge match vs Lee
IMO, a toss up..

1 spot ahead is Cornell w 44 points... Cornell has Yianni D left vs Meredith at 141. IMO, Meredith a slight favorite

1 spot behind RU is Ariz St w 39 pts. ASU has only Valencia left vs Hall, Valencia maybe a slight favorite.

2 spots back is SD St w 38 w only Gross left. A slight favorite over Mcic

So, IMO IF Suriano wins we hold 10th, and IF Yianni D loses , get 9th. And theoretically, should Nick win by pin and Yanni wins by a dec , RU gets 9th by a half point. A tie is possible as well w a TF and Yanni win.

RUTGERS can also catch Nebraska.

Are they starting the finals at 125?

Yes. The Snyder- Coon rematch the grand finale. Plus there is a small chance Ohio St will need Snyder to win or even win with bonus points for OSU to take the team title. IMO, PSU will have it wrapped up sooner.
