SF Austin Beats Duke!!

What other major offers did Vernon Carey have? Coach K Can’t keep relying on these “diamond in the rough” type kids!

Wow. Almost refs.

There was really only truly bad call I remember. A consequence of SFA's defensive style is that they foul a lot. Against a poor free-throw shooting team that can work to their advantage.

Did not realize Emmaus PA high school all time leading scorer suited up for sfa. Dropped a 3 on the doookies too. Hits close to home

SFA used aggressive defense and excessive fouling to get turnovers and limit Duke’s shots from the field. Duke obliged by missing 16 foul shots.

So, where will we be ranked? :>)

Wish I had seen this. Saw it on the ticker late last night while at the casino playing poker and thought it was a misprint. Usually a big upset gets put on some TV in the poker room and this game was never even on.

Numbers, could you imagine if RU beat #1 Duke on the road? We’d all be drunk on life for at least a week (or until we lost our next game). Crazy to think we just beat SFA (by 12) in our previous game, and we remain their only loss so far.

Love this. Has to help our SOS.
Don't understand why sos matters at all at this point. Let's be real. St bonny loss ended and tourney chances we had. That's what happens when you schedule scared and don't schedule legit competition for ooc.

Disagree. Season has a long way to go. Let's see how we do in B1G.

I'm pretty sure we had to win around 20 games to make the tourney BEFORE that loss. Literally everything would have to go right to even make njit. Look at nebraska the year they missed due to weak sos.

They were a 19-win team last year, and they went 6-14 in conference (tied for 13th)... pretty sure their OOC schedule wasn't the problem. Their OOC slate included (with kenpom): 5 Texas Tech, 36 Clemson, 55 Creighton, 60 Seton Hall, and 83 Oklahoma State.

The year before, they were a 22-win team that had 9 Kansas, 30 Creighton, 74 SJU, and 77 Boston College... problem was, they went 1-3 in those games and the Big Ten was in a very down year with just 4 bids.

Both of those years, they went to the NIT.

Beat the teams ahead of us - postseason is in no way out of reach right now.

I agree we probably need to win 20 for the NCAA. I think a winning record in B1G will get us NIT.

What makes it even more satisfying, to me at least, is that the Stephen F. Austin player double dribbled right in front of K.

----
yes, watched the replay several times and that easily could have been called a double dribble......what probably helped was the chaos ,scrambling upon getting the ball, he bounced it caught it, then started dribbling...

glad it was not called.

Maybe we dodged a bullet against SFA or caught them on a really bad night. Of course, we were just the better team that night.

Did SFA not get UP for our game? Were they looking ahead to Duke? Did they think of us as another Drexel.. who they had just clobbered?

SFA's performance against Duke is not their "normal" level.

The game log team stat lines say otherwise. The Duke game was fairly consistent with SFA's other games this year with regards to PPG, FG%, Rebounds, Assists, Steals etc....the major exception being in the RU game with SFA being limited to a much lower level of FGA and FG%. While the FG% could be a function of an off shooting night............. when combined with the lowering of Attempts, it would seem to be more likely that the reason was both RU's D and slowing down the game.

Scoring 1.01 points per possession against Duke is not an equal performance to scoring 1.01 points per possession against Drexel.

Regardless, the stats show the SFA outlier game to be against RU, not Duke. As someone who appears to sway towards the negative for RU Hoops, perhaps you are having trouble giving any credit to RU's D?
