Shaun O'Hara Supports Flood

With the chance of the media twisting what is said and investigation ongoing, the less said by RU leadership the better.
If a statement is going to be made, Lorincz or Lucci should make it and only after the RU Legal Department checks out the privacy laws to make sure nothing is said that could violate the rights of anyone involved or compromise the investigation.

I think something could be said about RU will not jump top conclusions about this issue and Flood has RU's full support
while the investigation is going on. Saying until the investigation is completed and all the facts are known , it wouldn't be fair to presume Coach Flood or anyone involved is guilty of anything

O'Hara didn't support Flood. He used this trivial issue as an opportunity to attack the AD and President.

What the hell does supporting Flood even mean? He already admitted that he violated policy to discuss student grades with faculty. Unless he has been pressuring faculty to change grades, he is going to get a slap on the wrist and have to take some training.

+1.

No matter what is said, when it's said or who says it, you just know the media is going to dissect it to death, find fault with it, try to prove the investigation was lacking in some way, etc.

It would be best to take the time to make sure all the T's are crossed and I's dotted and that all parties (i.e., faculty union) are in complete agreement with whatever is said.

Shame it was worded that way, only shows dissension in the ranks of the RU faithful over the way RU Athletics are being handled and some supporters unhappiness over those put in charge .
Better if Shaun tweeted that some media members are making more of this incident than should be made until all the facts come out.

The president of the faculty union has already said that they are not out to get Flood. They are interested in assurances of faculty autonomy.

The real benefit to a thorough investigation is to ensure clearing Flood is legitimate and to protect the football program.

Rutgers Athletics prides itself on the high APR of the football program. The last thing Rutgers wants is for this to be called into question as just a byproduct of the football coach influencing grades. A thorough investigation allows Rutgers to ensure that the high APR is legitimate.

I'm in agreement with O'hara, you can run an investigation, and publicly state your opinion of the coach...regardless of what you find.

Glad to see Shaun point out that Barchi is a spineless, one trick pony ( absorb a crazy amount of Medical School merger debt). He's way too busy on vacation or in hiding to do much else.

F U Barchi.

It would be counter productive for the union and faculty to state otherwise.
Hughes has criticized Flood's pay in the past and subsidies going towards athletics and has implied that the RU Athletic Department isn't that helpful to RU's academic side financially .

That's why Hughes is making sure he lets people know that the RU faculty union is not after Flood, but only wants to make sure he or any RU coach doesn't scare part time professors or full time ones by contacting them directly about one of their students that play on a coach's team.

Ohara needs to chill and let this thing play out. He's feeding right into what the Media wants and now we have articles about his tweet...Rutgers eating it's own like usual.

Barchi doesn't need to make a public statement everytime something with Athletics arises (And I'm not a huge Barchi fan after the Rice scandal).

If this was a huge national story I would agree with him but other than NJ.com nobody gives a rat's a$$ about this investigation. No idea what's taking so long but we need to let it run it's course and hopefully they come to the conclusion of what a non-issue it is.

Agree wholeheartedly.

Barchi can't comment as long as the investigation is ongoing. To do so could easily be interpreted as an attempt to influence the investigation. It's that simple.

As for O'Hara... Just out of curiosity, how many practices did he attend during training camp? Anthony Davis is "supporting" Flood. Brian Leonard and Aaron Brady are "supporting" Flood. It looks to me like Shaun O'Hara is just badmouthing Barchi and Julie.

Rutgers is a cesspool of political correctness. They are not speaking out because they are afraid for their own asses.

We had a coach get suspended for 4 games due to an anonymous letter. Another investigation because a parent thought that using certain color helmets as motivation/punishment was abusive.

Think about that stuff for a minute. Our "leaders" are paralyzed through self preservation.

The president of the faculty union has already said that they are not out to get Flood. They are interested in assurances of faculty autonomy. .

I know. But you have to wonder just how "firmly" they are asking for that to be reaffirmed in whatever statement is released. And, are they asking for a formal reprimand to be issued to Kyle, and made public, reminding him of how important the separation between academics and athletics is or something to that effect?

Barchi can't comment because nobody can find him. Yesterday was Freshmen move in day, the Presidents of all the other State Colleges were on campus, having get togethers with the freshmen, etc.

Where's Barchi ??

Looks like Shaun's tweet has started a bash Barchi movement in this thread.
Again instead of RU supporters sticking together and riding out the storm with the RU Administration till the facts come out , they start using their oars to hit RU officials they don't like and wonder why some media outlets know pointing a finger at Rutgers will get the desired results .
O'Hara, whether you like what he tweeted or not, played into their hands and others are following Shaun's lead .

Shaun, you've a public professional figure. Please act like it. Tweeting never improves one's image.

the only person who is swinging in the wind right now is Flood. And, that is due to a leak within the system that has unfairly made this public.
I have no idea how long this "investigation" has been going on, but it seems to be too long if you are talking about one email and its intent. My guess is that all of the other professors ,who have football players in class ,have been asked if they have felt pressured by the coaching staff by now.
With the fact that it has already been "leaked" that Flood will not be fired over this, I would think this should be over.
Although some think O'Hara stepped over the line, those of us here have a lot less knowledge about the President and AD than a lot of former/current players.

The administration should follow the old carpenter rule, "measure twice cut once".

If more former Rutgers players supported (Flood in this case) and the school in general, we wouldn't be still wondering "what was in that email"...O'Hara must have a feeling Barchi WILL NOT come out in support of Flood...Julie??? who knows what she's doing...she has her own past problems...Mark Killingsworth needs to be shipped back to his alma mater Michigan...people will swear he's just being objective in his request ...Hell , Killingsworth was so far off in his monetary evaluation Of Rutgers going forward in the B1G it wasn't funny...another dime a dozen Economics professor who should retire and enjoy his days left on earth ...

How is he supporting the school in general?

try giving the $ Shaun gives and maybe some would shut up about him

Shaun knows more about these people than anyone on this board--try being realistic

You are dead wrong, but I would love to here your support for this comment.

Shaun hasn't been involved with the school at all since either took over, because he was upset over the Pernetti firing. The funny thing is, even when Pernetti was here he was only very slightly involved with Rutgers. He should stick with the tri-county scholarship stuff, and stop attacking any part of the school. His support is meaningless. This is not a subjective inquiry, it is a simple issue of determining what coach's emails said. If the investigators find that Flood did in fact try to get a player's grades changed Shaun's "support" will look pretty stupid. For that very reason, you won't hear from Julie or Dr. Barchi until the investigation is complete.

If the investigation reveals that Flood has done nothing wrong, as we all expect, we will hear from the people in charge at RU. Agree with other posters that the only one spineless is the one who leaked this to the media to serve their own personal objectives.

you are wrong but still alive---your defense of ?whoever? and acting like he just has some grudge is wrong and just an excuse for what?? he has all the right in the world to defend flood and criticize whoever he pleases---and yes he knows more about what's up at RU that many

Shaun should shut the f up....so misguided and naive...you dont talk while the investigation is going on. He is falling right in the Ledgers trap to divide the fanbase

He can support Flood without attacking Rutgers..that served no purpose

Caliknight....you're so right. But I do expect Flood to be beheaded. After all, this country is much more brutal than ISIS.

Ahhhh, THAT'S where Barchi is -- trying to figure how to give that "teacher" tenure.
