Dunleavy reports: Jerry Kill contract is 3-year deal. $600K in Year 1. $625K in Year 2. $650K in Year 3. Per Sources.

That salary would make Kill the highest paid assistant coach for any sport in Rutgers athletic’s history. It would mark a $150K increase from what Drew Mehringer made last season.

And, for those worried, Kill made it clear he was committed to Rutgers and not looking to jump to a head coaching position. He will also be acting as the QB coach (a role he's never held before). That role will not be filled separately.

I'm fine with that role as his QB's have had excellent running statistics. STILL think we're not done hiring for this O, however, but we'll see.

I understand people's concern, but this was a big time hire. Kill would be a Big Ten HC right now if not for health issues forcing him to take a diminished role. We just hope he is up to the role of coordinator/QB coach. The play calling thing doesn't really have me worried...You are either competent at this level or not. He has shown himself to be competent. This is not a guy who became a HC and then failed.
