Well at least we had one day of relative positivity. The "GS" memory lane / What a disappointment he was threads have faded away. But they have been replaced by at least six "Ash is doing what on New Years Day" threads. The guy hasn't even been introduced yet and a group of posters are already starting with the the criticisms. Even Hobbs is a target! What a bunch of fools. Why don't you at least give him a chance at becoming the official HC before you go on the attack. This program just took a BIG step forward, give the crybaby stuff a rest for a few days!

I have to laugh at the op . Of course any reasonable person is going to have a questionable attitude towards Hobbs and this hire . It's totally a risky hire and not off to the best start . We will support this guy , but sometimes it's hard to be a Rutgers fan because of stuff like this .

when he shows me something I'll give him all the credit in the world.

Durkin and Babers are already on the job full time. Give me one good reason coaching a tOSU bowl game is good for Rutgers?

You want positive thoughts, go to an EST meeting ! lol, hey , are they still around ?

Well this fool is being a critic based on the assumption that Ash is going to be RU's HC tomorrow and threads alleging him to coach OSU's bowl game. Should neither be the case, I apologize as there was no need criticize and reply to those threads, including this one.

This is RU fans you're talking about and RU fans find more things to dislike than like when discussing RU FB.
When discussing something that happened, is happening now or will happen in the future:
a RU FB fan will reply like this:

How many times have we heard that the greatest advantage of going to a bowl game is to give reps to younger players who would be limited contributors in a bowl game?

I am at a loss to explain why he would not hit the ground running here. Meet HS coaches. Make whatever contacts are permissible with recruits. Interview staff. Evaluate film of players. Meet the players. Look for a home. Meet with the media. Debrief holdover assistants. Meet professors. Look at film of next year's opponents. Look at film of our commits and potential targets. There must be a million things he needs to do in Piscataway.

I agree there is plenty to do, but he hasn't even been made official yet and no one here has heard what he plans to do over the next few weeks, and already people are jumping on the negative wagon. Perhaps a few hidden agendas? Who knows

Sure, I can give you several.

Body of work: Show the recruits what his defense can do. You've got eyes watching, and this time, thinking, that the defense is being run by the head coach of Rutgers. Good recruiting tool.

Mention on National TV: Any broadcast with tOSU is going to be a big deal. The odds are that they'll mention Ash becoming the new Rutgers head coach. Not a bad storyline to be broadcast nationally, again, recruits watching.

Another chance to learn: Ash is a first time head coach. You can bet your behind that he'll be going through this prep and game watching Meyers even more like a hawk than ever to be ready for his own time. Yes, he's had his chance to do that for two years, but I can't imagine it'll hurt doing it with a different mindset.

No reason he can't get Rutgers work done too. He's a co-DC, so I'd imagine he'll be getting started on our stuff as well. He doesn't strike me as lazy.

I don't find it hard to be a Rutgers fan. Perhaps you need a past time that is more enjoyable for you. I'm thinking that licking AL Golden's balls might be a good fit.
