It would seem that this Rutgers team will probably not come close to being one of Pikiell's elite
defensive teams. Therefore, the team will need to rely more on scoring to win games. Therefore, why
waste Somerville's offensive talents sitting near the basket waiting for the passes that rarely come.
My starting lineup, understanding that defense will be compromised, would be Ogole, Somerville,
Bailey, Harper and Williams. Then would rotate in Derkack, Hayes and Martini ( creating an offense that
would get the latter two open for 3 pt. shots); and finally J. Davis. I would also bring along Grant/ Dortch
to hopefully help toward the latter third of the season.
Lastly, I would practice foul shots when the players are exhausted. Possibly following wind sprints for
conditioning. In that way they will be accustomed to be shooting when tired at end of games.

Need Acuff in there somewhere

Is Sommerville out at the 3pt line moving around on offense?
Is he a threat out ther?

Or is he clogging up the lane along with Ogbole and just letting the defense pack it in more?

Sorry about the spelling of WASTED!
You need to do a Siri check before you press the post button. I was thinking in response that he is too big “waisted” right now to play the 4, despite what he has lost so far. When he slims down a little further, that might change.

im in total agreement that he is a skilled big man for a freshmen... but am i the only one who thinks hes a complete black hole offensively when it comes to re-distributing the ball? he gets it in the post and makes almost no attempt to pass out of the double or give the ball up if the bucket is not available

He's getting better at this, slowly. Had a five or six game stretch where I'm not sure he passed back out once though.

I think he will develop into a fine player. But i do not think he plays High!

I just spent a few minutes watching a Grand Canyon State at Louisiana Tech game. Both teams have better centers than us. How can that be? We need to work harder on the transfer portal.

That is horrible. This isn’t 1990. The game today is about creating space, position-less players who can shoot, drive and move the ball. What you’re suggesting is a slow team that crowds the paint. That would kill Dylan’s ability to get to the rim.

If he loses 40lbs he can be point guard; sure likes to handle the ball on the perimeter. Talented guy who doesn't like to play D as his primary responsibility. He needs to play along side a true power forward who will rebound - and cover the middle. Think they have that player for next season -- but this is this season - and basically everybody knew this would happen.

Sommerville is an undersized Center. He's NOT a 4 in today's game. He would get roasted defending the perimeter. And he's not a big enough threat to shoot from deep on offense.
Spot on. And would get into foul trouble faster than he does now.
