The guy I wanted when Rice was fired. Plays Uptempo, pressing style and from the Pitino tree. Forget the graduating thing...he is now a graduate and should get a close look. At Manhattan, he has recruited NY and Jersey.

If the Manhatten coach is the best that Rutgers can attract ,its time to leave the B1G and join the MAC.

You mean like Jay Wright, who came from Hofstra. Programs like Manhattan is where up and coming coaches come from before going big time.

No Masiello. No Hurley. Need someone who's coached in a P5 environment, preferably a HC but would take an experienced, lead assistant with recruiting chops. Hobbs needs to follow the same playbook he used to hire Ash.

his star faded...he probably should have been hired instead of Eddie for half of the money but lying about the degree wouldnt work

there is some poster that claims he wouldnt come here..thats bs...he is no longer in demand

no thanks...we dont need another scandal to chase us around...

I mentioned last week that I found it rather random that RU football assistant coach Drew Mehringer tweeted a photo from behind the bench at a Manhattan Jaspers home game...........

So does no one else on this forum find this interesting? This is feeling more and more like tea leaves....maybe they share an agent. I just find it too random that he'd go to a game of theirs the week the RU mbb program was due to get a house-cleaning. Also, there's the connection that he was a colleague of Masiello under Pitino.

Don't forget that he was an assistant at Louisville - and they are back in trouble again. Can't see it

Hobbs will lose all of the good will he earned with the Ash hire. Poof.

See....I think he'd lose that the moment he hires Hurley and bloggers, fans of other programs, sports haters or the media investigates what happened at the end of URI vs. Md. That looks like a red flag right there, at least in the world which we now live.....at a school that had a media-driven fiasco with Mike Rice.

If Masiello was accessed of any wrongdoing regarding the Louisville stripper parties, he would have been implicated by now. That stripper's tell-all book was vetted by a Pulitzer Prize winning reporter. SM's only issue is the degree thing that he took care of in a few weeks. I don't know if he's the answer, but I think Mehringer being at his game was a very strange sign. Maybe someone could find a different connection between Mehringer and Manhattan basketball staff (Rice, Ohio State, James Madison and Houston are where Mehringer has been)

The only people "investigating" the end of the URI-MD game are the people on here who don't want Hurley. Whatever happened, happened and no action was taken against anyone. You might not like Hurley or want him to be a coach but this is a non issue.

I actually have no bias either way against him, I just fear another embarrassing situation....if Hobbs looks into it and concludes that it was nothing, I'm satisfied, because I don't expect him to make a huge mistake.

I agree with you and I trust Pat Hobbs. My point is that things like this happen all time. Are we discounting Tim Cluess because there was a similar incident at the end of the first Iona-Monmouth game? No. Things happens in the heat of the moment and everyone moves on. Literally no one else in the country remembers or cares about this "incident."

I don't think anyone cares that coaches argued, but if any player claims on the record that he called anyone a "f-g-t" that's national news in 2016. Even though it was probably a daily thing when we were growing up!
