Giving Providence a game on the road at Providence. Up by 2 at the half. Remember how we played NJIT after the MSU game! We better be ready to play on Friday or this wave we are feeling could be short lived.

I ageee BUT odds are SB doesn’t play the same way on the road twice in three days.

It will be interesting to see a) how we come out ready to play and b) how the staff decides to attack this team. Pike has several options as to how to set up the match ups. I think he will have us ready, hope so anyway. Most of us thought after MSU the NJIT game would be a walk over so you never know.

Remember last year at their place it was like our game yesterday - one they had circled on their calendar cuz of pike and they played us tough and we had to scrape out a win ... this game scares me so much, the team has to be ready to play.

Here's the good news (maybe). If we, as fans, are starting to come down off the high of yesterday's win and have started to focus on Stoney Brook then we should be confident that the staff and players are already preparing. Hopefully they were watching this game as we were. BTW, Stoney Brook got screwed. Swallow the damn whistle and let the players decide it in OT.

they are 4-8 for a reason...that being said, they have not really been blown out in their losses...lost by 22 to MSU and 15 to Maryland. Seem like they can shoot the ball so that can be an issue. Looks to be one of those games where it might be close for a while but if RU sticks to their game they pull away in the 2nd half but I do not see a big blowout either.

Parsippany, NJ folks can expect to see all-time Parsippany Hills HS great Glenn Sekunda in the crowd at the RAC. His son Bryan plays at Stony Brook.

Nobody gets the potential irony here? We need to treat every game like yesterday.

I don't get your point. We are all saying exactly that. What we are asking is whether the players will. We all remember how they came out in the NJIT game after playing MSU tough to the end. We asked then if they would play NJIT with the same intensity as they had with MSU and they did not. We all want them to take no one for granted and take no prisoners but the question is will they? From what I have seen of Pike I know he will certainly deliver the message. We need to come out and control the game, maybe dominate, from start to finish. Play to our level not theirs.

After the ladies demolished a very good Houston team by 20 yesterday, the media asked Tyler Scaife what’s something she wants to work on going into B1G conference play ... she said, ‘blowing out teams better, winning by 30 or more points, not stepping off their necks ...’ .. men’s team needs to adopt this attitude for these last 2 non-conf games

We're better defensively than Providence. When the Friars actually put in an effort on that side of the ball, SBU was lost. As long as the team brings the effort, it'll be an easy win. If we come out like we did against CCSU or NJIT, then it's going to be a problem.

Another thing going for us is that the game isn't until Friday. That gives the coaches a lot of prep time and the team has time to move on from Saturday and refocus. Coaches will be pushing these guys to be the best they can. I love this staff.

Agreed. If this game was tomorrow night, I’d be much more concerned.

Agree - with possible loopholes
(1.) if Pike sees that the game is fully, absolutely locked up - and wants to utilize a bit of the time to get some key on-the-floor action & experience with certain players - or combinations or specific plays - - that he may want in his back pocket for later in the season.
(2.) if Pike sees that the game is fully, absolutely locked up - and decides that rather than hammering them into humiliation by pouring it on with the starters - he can give them a breather and have safely resting on the bench where they can wildly cheer their back-ups on to a resounding (but maybe not quite as lopsided) victory.

.... but the whole key is to come storming out from the very beginning with the intensity needed to blow them out of the building - otherwise it can become a long rock-fight of a night !

Two posts way ahead of themselves. I guarantee they are taking SB very seriously. Pike recruited much of that roster and they played in tourney and know they are dangerous.

...yup, that's what I mean, Friday night of Christmas weekend LOL!!! OOOOOPS!

Don't ya just hate making a mistake like that in a post. You think you are making such a salient point and all of a sudden....... HATEWHENTHATHAPPENS!!!

Certainly hope they seriously are locked in on this one - logically they should be - there are so many tools that they can use to produce a fire to heat up the intensity:

(1.) as you said - see SB as a dangerous team - Pike knows that & is certainly pounding that home

(2.) The players (and fans) should whip up the enthusiasm with a do it for "Mike & Pike" frenzy -
- - - blast Mike through the 1,000 career point mark with a memorable victory
- - - produce a great victory for Pike over his former team

(3.) Be better than North Carolina - bring your "A" game to EVERY game - when Goliath sleeps on David - he can get knocked off!

what is needed is solid & unquestionably powerful win - but my point was that it does not necessarily have to be a huge lopsided 30-40 point blow-out if Pike has additional priorities on his punchlist - a 10 - 15 point victory where the 2nd team has as many points as the starters can, in the long run, be more valuable than a runaway score-a-thon by the starters.
