Sunday was my last game at the RAC and it was a fun win… but after 40+ years, Barn/RAC…

My wife and I will be moving to LA to be with our 2 girls by next winter. Will miss it, but I was one of the last to leave Sunday. Very sentimental.

As I reflect… I didn’t go to Rutgers. But I grew up on Easton Ave, played at Franklin with Roy. Attended my first games as a boy at the smoke filled Barn… “Run, Rutgers, Run” t shirt. Went to many games with my pop and uncle. Watched Larry Bird play us in NIT in 100 section. Once I returned from college moved back to the area. Was able to afford random games, then season tickets many years.

I love Rutgers as my “home team”, not as a grad, but as a local kid. They are my pro team. My heart. In many ways, it’s deeper than even being an alum. It’s where I’m from. I could hear the marching band in Fall from my house up Easton Ave. Splintered football benches… you already know…

That said, I’ll always be checking in and posting and of course will be sporting my swag when RU comes out West. It won’t be for a while, but I’ve seen my final in person game.

You can take the kid outta New Brunswick but you can’t take New Brunswick outta da kid!

Thanks for your story. Good luck in LA. You can always root for the Dodgers, as I have since when they played in Brooklyn.

Good luck wiht the move. Catch Rutgers hoops when they're out that way against UCLA at Pauley Pavilion and against the Trojans in whatever USC's arena is. Perhaps either one could be as soon as next season.

I’ll hit you up once we are there
Two of my best friends are NB kids and you're right, can't take NB out of the kid. They're in their 70's. Good luck in CA. We spent 10 yrs in Northern CA and loved it.

Life is cyclical. Sunday was my son's first game, and after an exciting win (albeit stressful), he's hooked and begging to go more next season.

Enjoy California and being with family , New Brunswick will always be part of you while Rutgers will never leave your heart no matter how far away from the RAC you roam .
Instead of Season tickets you'll just be doing LA , Scarlet Knight style.

Good luck with your move. Yours is a great story, thanks for sharing! Scarlet Knights never leave, they just move 😁. Playing with Roy must have been cool! Go SBP! Go RU!
