Suriano loving the RU 'Dungeon'

So if Goodale thinks wrestlers think differently, why didn't he shun the money and stick with the digs he had?

And, why did Nick choose Penn State over Rutgers originally?

Nick commented on why he chose Penn State originally in an interview somebody posted. And the current wrestling room(has a lot of character) is way too small.

I realize you are just trying to be snarky, but I have spoken to Goodale about the CAG on several occasions, and I think he genuinely does like the current practice room. I think its a mindset thing, and a good one. Its an obvious handicap that the staff has turned into an advantage that works for them. I think its probably similar to what Edinboro, or other schools with shitty facilities preach when they recruit.

But the fact of the matter is that it is too small, and that is the primary issue. They may not need the newest and the best, but they need more room. Plus the fact that obviously no one in their right mind would turn down a brand new state of the art facility.

Snark with a purpose. In another thread, you guys are having a "Can Goodale get us Top 5" discussion, and I would contend that his genuine like of the facilities doesn't square with the majority of wrestlers genuine likes. Suriano appears to be tryng to convince himself and maybe others that the new, shiny stuff at PSU isn't needed. Yet, here it comes in 20 months. OSU is finishing theirs, Iowa is working on theirs, etc.

It's a great recruiting tool, and more kids are going to gravitate towards it, than not, despite Rocky beating Ivan Drago. I think it has the possibility of getting more recruits from out of state, which is going to be the only way you get to top 5, so Goodale and Suriano and Dunleavy should stop acting like it's good enough.

I really have no idea what point you are trying to make.

I love Suriano's comments. I love them embracing that lunch pail hard work attitude. That will serve us well this year. The new practice facility, I am sure, will be embraced once its ready to go, but there is no reason for anyone to be complaining about it now. The CAG has been good enough for a long time, and it will be good enough this year to get us into the top ten. I am glad the team recognizes this.

And Suriano and Goodale are correct. Granted, new weights may impress some recruit, which is a big part of success. But for guys already on the team, new weights aren't gonna make you any stronger.

Your not the one to tell Goodale, Suriano & Dunleavy how to act.

What about my post showed anything about being bitter about Suriano? It was a discussion about an article written about your facilities. The first two paragraphs were about Goodall saying wrestlers mindsets being different. Yet, everyone, including him, admits that it's a recruiting advantage.

I'm still trying to figure out Dunleavy's purpose in even writing it.

Did I miss something and are we not getting the new place on Livingston now?

No not your post but your posts! You really need to read your posts on this thread to see it clearly but in other posts as well. Well the snarkiness (2nd post in this thread), then you make a dig at our school by saying its the only way you (RU) is going to be top 5 (still 2nd post). There are many different ways our team can be in the top 5, like hiring excellent coaches that the very top athletes will relate to and want to play for, instilling Jersey pride in developmental programs s students don't leave for other schools, more funding for the sport so athletes don't leave because of only receiving a partial scholarship, etc. Then questioning of Goodale in your first comment on this thread, asking why nick selected your school over ours originally (in the first comment also). Who cares why he selected your school, he made a mistake and admitted that. We all make mistakes. Now he is where he wants to be and that's the important part and didn't lose any eligibility by transferring from your school. I believe he could be the first if not one of a select few that was granted eligibility to compete immediately.

I could be wrong on this one, but weren't you the one in another thread about Suriano That was arguing with several insiders of our program stating that they were wrong about the transfer details and it actually happening. Even one of your fans said at one point that Suriano was at Penn St on a day when he clearly was not and another brought up about signed documents that were on your coaches desk, insinuating that he was returning to your campus.

Arguing for the sake of arguing, or it not having a point, makes other statements in a conversation not seem valid. Everyone was talking about how Suriano doesn't mind the tiny, smelly wrestling room. It was something positive about the athlete and his state of mind, basically stating that he doesn't need a state-of-the-art wrestling room to accomplish his goals.

Wow, I don't even know where to start. First, I have a question for you. You have 29 wrestlers on your roster. When do you anticipate giving all of them a full ride, so they "don't leave because of only receiving a partial scholarship." Is that in the works?

I'll let it up to the rest of the RU fans to discuss your list of ways your team can be top 5.

Wow, you need to read at a slower pace so you can comprehend. I said more funding in whatever way that can be done. I anticipate that eventually the sport will become very popular that the NCAA and schools will be able to give just full scholarships to all athletes and no partial scholarships. No it's not in the works but you were talking about ways our program can be a top 5. I never said it was realistic right now but if the sport catches on fire with the younger generation, like basketball did in the late 70's and 80's, then why not.

Another way i didn't mention is to try and lure the best resident athletes (SKWC).

I agree would love to hear how others think we can be a top 5 program besides practice facility. I am sure I missed quite a few.

You literally did not say that. In your first message, you said, "more funding for the sport so athletes don't leave because of only receiving a partial scholarship" That does not say, "more funding in whatever way that can be done."

So, adding to your list, you put:
4. Wait around until the NCAA decides to let us make wrestling a head count sport.
