Syracuse has 3 commits?

I still chuckle when I think of this photo of the Syracuse dance team someone posted in another thread, can't remember who posted it, but hats off to him:joy:

Syracuse fans..whatever you've seen of us so far doesn't matter. We are going to receive 45-50 million dollars per year from the big ten starting in 2021. Our facilities are going through a giant change. Money like that breeds success, and were already having success recruiting without it. Syracuse is well on its way to being the pond scum on the end of our boot.

The only way you can brag is by having an elite 11 qb no other schools really wanted besides wake Forest. Guess what? Temple got an elite 11 qb last year in Russo..it didn't phase ash and he went out and got the best qb in the state of Tennessee (a dual threat). Elite 11 means nothing. Have fun with the second highest rated qb in the state cause he's not passing Lewis, who is bigger and projects better as a spread qb.

Well good for you, now you can be a well compensated doormat.

Do I detect a note of bitterness?

Btw way, we won't be a doormat for long. Our coach (you remember him, he turned down your job offer) will have us competing with the other top teams in the B1G

That's what bothers Money more than anything. The fact that Ash said no thanks to SU when RU came calling. He can't deal with it.

Money breeds success. We have a good location in a fertile recruiting ground. I can't help it that you went to school in the middle of Bumf**k, NY or that no good football players with extensive offers want to go where the winter lasts forever.

Our new basketball/general sport facilities (more than halfway to our goal in 6 months as far as fundraising) will move all sports out of the stadium and allow our football program to expand our current facilities. We have a new million $ football weightroom being built as we speak. We have a top 30 recruiting class currently. If things don't go as planned, in any given year we will be able to offer 3-4 million (or more...big ten gives a lot of money) per year on a coach to come play for a state university with competitive h.s. football nearby and no other bcs schools located within the state.

You already lost. Why are you here? Your team sucks in the ACC, the most ineptly run power 5 conference. Your league will be raided immediately if there is another expansion...you already struggle for TV deals.

Your AD just woke up one day and said "...screw this, I'm out of here". Didn't even tell the football coach he hired. Really gotta wonder if babers will look around to leave asap. Do you think babers likes it there? Good...luck with that.

Your team has no meaningful impact in football. Nobody cares about syracuse football. Your location is a terrible place for someone to go when compared with nearly every other school. Hell, many kids probably wanna go to Temple over you because at least there's something to do living in philly.

Your team is an ant in my eyes and the eyes of many other Rutgers fans. It's just mildly amusing that so many of you cuse fans think otherwise (syracusefan.com....where I go to laugh at the D of your fans in the face of demise...during those rare moments i actually remember that you have a football team).

Cuse fans so mad Ash turned them down. Love it.
No one talks about that. Meyers talked Ash out of considering the Syracuse job. Ash pulled out once he relied the hill he must climb at Syracuse is huge. The ground work is in place at Rutgers as well as a solid recruiting base, which makes he Rutgers job more appealing. Syracuse is similar to Indiana, Minnesota, Iowa and a few other schools who have to recruit outside of their state just to survive.

wow Im a popular guy. My name is mentioned alot. Why is this thread still going? I tried to end it. Someone had to keep it going. I can tell you straight up that the guys on the SU forum were upset when they heard Ash was considered. No one wanted a defensive guy. Been there and done that. People are very excited about an offensive mined Babers. I like Ash though. He is very enthused and energetic for a little guy. He is doing a good job of changing the culture and got people believing in him. I still dont think he is recruiting as well you think he is. Flood would have got these same guys. Clark and Belton was coming to Rutgers regardless. The rest of the commits are average. IMO. He got got average jersey kids committed early.

lol thats a lot of words about a team you don't care about anymore. Yeah the AD left after one of the best sports years in SU history. So your logic makes a lot of sense. Rutgers football relies too much on one sport being good. SU is much more well rounded.

a 4 win season is included in the best sports year in cuse history? wins vs wake forest, bc, rhode island and central michigan? cause im not talking basketball...everyone knows basketball doesnt hold a candle to what can potentially be made with football. football is the driver of everything and conference expansion showed that. it all came down to football programs.

if you're comparing secondary sports...well im assuming you didnt do too much research cause many of our other teams (wrestling, lacrosse, etc) are doing quite well.

i'll never turn down a chance to trash syracuse. its just so easy to do so. some people like stepping on ants.

rutgers is going to get so much more money from being in the big ten than syracuse can ever hope to match. add that into your barren recruiting grounds and bad location...well, as the years pass, we're just gonna keep pulling away. NJ kids are gonna laugh when someone asks if they're going to syracuse over rutgers.

More money, less problems.

No one cares about football in NYS. If they did it would be a bigger commitment to Cuse football and there would be more quality HS teams and players. You guys put everything into football and for what? What have you won? You will never win the big ten, you will never win the big ten east. 7-5 at best. Mens and Women final 4's and championship games. Lacrosse mens won the ACC, Soccer got to the final 4. Women got to the finals in lax, nationals champs in track and field hockey. Those are major sports buddy. Good luck trying to be mediocre in 1 sport.

Money stop being such a clown. Your obsession is beyond comprehension. Do you realize you're insulting us on our board? I don't think any of us are on your board throwing out insults. If they are then they are just as bad as you.

Not what I'm getting at. You may have preferred an Offensive coach. Who knows.

The fact that Ash dumped you guys as soon as a better option became available has to crush your ego.

no ego crushed. Ash probably thought it would be easier to get recruits because of talent rich state of NY. Dont blame him. You need a brand to recruit NYS. Babers has that. Plus Ash knows if he goes 7-5 he would be considered a hero. Nice texas st pick up too. between them, UB and Kansas you can get 3 wins. Now you have to pray you win the 50/50 games each year. Maryland and Indiana. Those have been some wild games. BTW, no one really knows what was offered and accepted during the coaching carousel. We went with a guy that actually been a HC and won a conference chip. We still dont know if Ash can coach.

we won 40-50 million dollars per year. our stadium expansion and the resources we originally put into our football program got us big ten membership. thats all that matters. sorry. with our location, theres no way to accurately predict our ceiling once those future earnings have been funneled towards improving our sports programs

Your right.

Syracuse has an awesome basketball program and atmosphere. Basketball got you into the ACC. In terms of football, Rutgers is just in a better situation right now. I don't really see how you can spin it any other way.

I wouldn't mind playing Syracuse again though for a little home and home series. It would leave no doubt in the Northeast who is above who in the football pecking order in the Northeast.

I agree. Should be a series. What got Rutgers into the Big Ten? Dont say football success

Lol, you're trying to insult the man's height, just admit you're bitter he didn’t take the SU job.

Ask Jim Delaney.

It might have to so with the sweet TV deal the Big Ten just secured. Hell I never claimed we're a football juggernaut. We were a moderately successfull program since 2006. It might also have to do with our similarity in terms of size, academics and AAU status.

tell that to your fellow board members. The potential of Rutgers football is high. But putting down SU doesnt make you better. I say the same thing to SU board members too. Any team that puts a commitment to winning can win. Some reason people on here dont think SU, who has great history can be a average to above average team. But a team that doesnt can

I've been to a few Syracuse football games over the last three years as someone close to me just graduated from a graduate school at Syracuse. The atmosphere is just, well, lacking. No tailgating, hardly any students in the student section and just an apathetic atmosphere in general. We were at the game against a ranked Duke team, walked in in the middle of the first quarter and sat in the first row of the student section. Just not very impressive.

I'm not saying Rutgers has a legendary atmosphere by any means but it's just better then Syracuse's football atmosphere. Basketball is a whole other story. The SU basketball games I went to were straight up awesome. It's night and day.

Football is what drove realignment. With the academics, status as a flagship public research university in the AAU, fertile recruiting grounds, location, potential and the already better football atmosphere, Rutgers was just probably more attractive to the Big Ten then Syracuse.

At least you're in a power five conference though. Syracuse definitely fits in there with the strength of the basketball in the ACC. Couldn't be any worse than UConn, their situation is a nightmare.

I agree with everything you just said. There is just not a emphasis on football.

I think although Syracuse has some tough challenges in Football, as does RU, and I'm a 4 decade season ticket holder for RU, Syracuse's path to winning is a bit easier than RU's even though RU has an advantage in recruiting territory. RU's East division is just sooo much tougher than Syracuses', that a a recruiting class in the 70 range will /can go further in helping their W/L record than a 35 range for RU. PLUS, Babers is a damn good, proven coach. I think ASH can/will be, but Babers is more proven at this point.

I always wondered how it would have played out if Rutgers never got the Big Ten invite. Would we be in the ACC instead of say Louisville? Or would we be still chillin with Uconn in the AAC? I really have no idea. Were we even considered a more attractive program then Louisville? They were probably the best run athletic program in the country at the time. Probably not.

Didn't say you didn't want Babers, BUT you do have to admit your left handed compliment of Ash "He is very enthused and energetic for a little guy" smacked of sour grapes. It's not like he is only 5ft tall, he is probably slightly under average height, so nothing worth bringing up unless you have a ax to grind;)

Money is kind of a pathetic soul. He stalks are board and apparently also reads NJ.com for RU football news which is really sad. Insulting a team you don't like on your own board is one thing. Jumping into a thread to fight with people on another team's board because they're ripping on your team is childish. The guy is totally obsessed with the fact that our program, even with all the off the field issues the last few years, is still way ahead of his.

You lose me with the "co-coordinator" comment. Yeah, Luke Fickell is the brains behind OSU's D. That's why so many programs are beating down his door for a head job again. OSU gives him the DC moniker because he graciously stepped aside for Urban. Yet they bring in Ash and now Schiano to actually call the D. Listen, you and fellow Cuse fans may have wanted an offensive coach after the GRob and Shafer debacles, that's understandable. But don't knock Ash's credentials, that's just foolish. Also if you hadn't noticed, Ash brought in an OC who is bringing in a much needed new O system, one that's easier to recruit and plays to the athletes we have in state. So while Ash is a D guy he's also bringing in a system that gets us away from the awful mundane pro set offense. Win win on both sides of the ball as far as I'm concerned. Babers is a good fit for Cuse in that conference. Would not be in the Big Ten East IMO.

And careful with your "never going to win" comments. "Never" is a long time. 20 years ago people were saying RU would never be competitive in major college football for any length of time and would never be invited to a major football conference. Yes it's based on potential, not history, but if history were the sole factor schools like Yale and Holy Cross would be in the B1G/ACC not RU, VaTech and Miami.

Fixed it for you

Not factually true.

Actually, Pitt eclipses Rutgers in Annual Research expenditures, Endowment and Total Sports Accomplishments and Awards.

Not saying that Rutgers is not a good school but so is Pitt.

Meaningless statements mean nothing.

You will have to do your own fact checking.

LOL!!!!

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

TO HELL WITH PITT!!!!
Never said Pitt wasn't a good school.

I didn't make a statement that needs to be backed up with facts.

I merely improved your final comment, like I'm doing again:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Agreed, just another weak jab at Ash, not even accurate. money3189 looks a little silly making childish attacks towards someone he claims to not have wanted..

I think many Cuse fans, which have to be alumnus, always have Rutgers on the top of their mind because they live in NJ and read Rutgers in the news. Same as Penn State and BC fans.

The greatest weakness most of the Rutgers fans expected from Ash was his recruiting abilities. Ash has already exceeded everyone expectation in recruiting since you don't see any negative comments on the board. When Flood was here, there was 50-80% were against him because fans do know when it's bad. Ash strength is his coaching ability which we expect the defense to be good to great when we get the personnel and going to Spread Offense improve the offense by at least 25-40 %. It may take a season to adjust but we'll get there. You don't need the perfect QB for the spread offense as well as 4 star OLinemen. That's why we's expecting that we improve in the future.

Exactly. We've witnessed some painful offensive football around here the past 11 years. We are not Stanford or USC where 5-star QBs and OL flock to play in a pro style offense. And while we are not running the air circus offense that Babers/Briles/Leach employs, doesn't mean we won't be more fun to watch on O. Finally we will have QBs that can make plays with their legs which I have been screaming for since Mike McMahon graduated.
