And this is why I rather have the Florida kids, Midwest kids, Northeast Kids and all of the "no star" Jersey kids with chips on their shoulders as big as gorilla balls than all of these 3*, 4* Catholic School flakes who will literally go where the wind blows. Trust me, there are more hungry, athletic, academically eligible kids who play for Barringer, Shabazz, Lincoln, Hoboken, Union City, Camden, Bound Brook, Montclair, Pennsauken, West Deptford, Haddonfield, Collingswood, etc, etc etc who would be ready to prove everyone wrong about a lot of things. Stop wasting time with the Catholic Schools kids and Big Star Kids who will use Rutgers for a bigger offer (not saying BC will ever be better but jeez.).

BTW, when Schiano was here, I'd would rather go to war with that 2005, 2006 crew with not that many multi star players who were hungry as f*** instead of those later teams with the 3, 4* players who for one reason or another never turned the corner.

Sorry for the rant fellas.

This is there 2nd TE recruit. BC that is. The other one is Ray Marten from Brooklyn. This one is not on Ash or Flood. I'll leave it at that.

it comes down to recruiting by the coaches,no matter school name....no blame of" the system"..the problem RU must solve is in state recruiting..you can blame prep schools, the system whatever you will like....but untill the instate recruiting woes are fixed..its like running in place . Saying you will just recruit out of state while other B10 schools along with Pitt,Temple also recruit your backyard..it will not work.didnt work for Flood..

When did Flood ever land a QB (you know...only the most important position on the field) like Tylin Oden with multiple Power 5 offers from outside of the region? The only NJ recruits who are slam dunks in the 2016 class are Gary, Fuller and Chambers. And yes I realize we are not landing any of these three and I agree THAT needs to change. However, the rest of the lot, no matter how many stars they have, are as hit or miss as any of the three stars we ARE getting. Some of them are window dressing for these out of state schools (Kareem Walker), some won't even see the field (Guarantano and Dwumfor) and others won't even qualify (Hawkins, Holloway).

I will admit the only one we are really missing out on that we had a legitimate shot with is Campbell and Alexander if we don't flip him. The others outside of the big three i mentioned above? Eh. They are replaceable. Point is, wait and see who actually ends up in the class on Wednesday before we make our judgement on Ash's recruiting of the 2016 class.

Stuff happens ... Ash & staff have a commitment to shoot straight - - and this is just a pothole on the recruiting highway - nothing they have not seen before - and they will not change their approach to being straightforward with recruits -
and as much as it may be irritating, it is better to find out a recruit's propensity to waiver in their level of dedication now - than later on - especially since the rigor of the preparation for RU Football is going to make a dramatic jump up.

So many nj prep players are overrated. Love this staff recruiting nationally. Coach Ash, please spend more time and resources for out of state kids. Just win and they will come.

Bergen Catholic recruits to RU during AC's time at RU:
2013 - 1
2014 - 1 (not star rated)
2015 - 0
2016 - 0

Bergen Catholic recruits to Boston College during AC's 17 days on the job - 1

This makes no sense.

I also don't understand why Idrizi couldn't just tell the staff last week that he had a great time but wants to take his OV to Boston College first before he makes a decision. I mean he and Mo Jabbie were tweeting at each other how they were going to be roommates. Makes no sense to me.

Screw Bergen Catholic. This kid looks like an absolute loser. This is another reason why Flood needed to go. The next time you see this kid he will be asking you if you want fries with your burger.
What the hell does this have to do with Flood?

The kid is not mentally stable to commit and then flip a cup of coffee later.

That may been too harsh on the kid (although this is a teachable moment - if you wish to appear to have integrity - do not swiftly do things that end up making you look like you have none)
- however it would seem likely that he was "worked-on" pretty comprehensively - and one could question the motives of some of those who did the working -

Kids from Catholic schools are indoctrinated from day one about going on to ND and BC if they are good enough. I'm sure many lesser athletes are directed towards lesser known Catholic colleges. Not going to change.

I just don't get it. If you're not sure, don't commit, that's fine. It's a BIG decision.

Flipping after 5 days suggests he's a bit squirrelly. Good riddance.

I posted this tweet last night, had a feeling the kid was flipping and said Caption this tweet....i was ripped on the board and thread deleted....this was a total set-up...never felt this way before.

I can't figure out which fanbase is more disappointed. Rutgers because he flipped or BC because he committed.

yeah - a BC fan with a critical / skeptical eye might be inclined to be stewing over the dedication of a scholarship to this kid - for what - to settle a score? to spite a previous employer?

I've said it once and I'll say it a million more times...stars being equal, I would much rather take a Florida, Texas, or California player over a NJ player.

I frankly don't give a crap where the players come from, we're a national University. I don't know what this obsession is with recruiting NJ right now. If we win, they will come from all over the country including NJ. The coaches job right now is to get players that fit the system they want to run. It looks like that is going well so far. If half the teams comes from friggin' Guam and the team is going in the right direction, who cares?

Let it go.

Right or wrong, Ash put together a staff of coaches who never recruited NJ. With the exception of Rene, and the kid Oden - who just committed, none of the current commits had a relationship with anyone on Ash's staff.

I was willing to sacrifice this class for the future of the program, because Flood had us on a downward trajectory, and a regime change was required to turn around the program.

This staff will be judged on their ability to build their relationships with the 2017 class. Right now, they need to make up A LOT of ground.

In the meantime, I think they need to take the Schiano Year 1 route and pluck talent from familiar recruiting territories. I like Oden, like this Turner kid and I think they can get the transfers. I will take the BC DE transfer as a consolation prize for losing Idrizi

Some on here will tell you Ash has done agreat job. I see zero evidence of that. What I HAVE seen is lower expectations, a ton of decommits, and a Terry Shea like delay getting started.

I would bet money this kid would have flipped even if Golden was hired...

Ash is doing just fine.

If that is all you see - then you have been missing a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes. I expected the recommits - Ash is a brand new head coach with a young, largely unknown staff. By many accounts, he has filled out his staff with young, up-and-comers who are known for their tenacity and hustle. It will take a huge effort to undue what Flood has done to this program.

I don't post on this board often, but I've read your posts and I know you were one of the guys rooting for Golden to land the RU job. I think Golden is a solid recruiter, but I don't think he has proven he can develop his talent. He couldn't get it done at Miami despite multiple top 10 recruiting classes to coach and develop. He wouldn't have been able to duplicate his recruiting track record here at RU. I have no doubt about that. However, I think he would have pulled in some solid recruiting classes, but that is about it. Without top notch, bluechip talent, I don't think Golden's schemes (Pro set O / Read/React Defense) would have led to on-the-field success here at RU.

Golden would have landed decent recruiting classes at RU, but he would have just been setting the table for the next HC. In the end, I don't think his efforts would have translated to more Ws.

We needed a guy who could come in and instill a winning culture, as well as, implement schemes that would give us a better shot at Ws against the top teams in the B1G. Time will tell, if Ash can coach 'em up/develop talent and if his O and D schemes will be the right fit for the talent he can attract to RU.

"lower expectations" - LOL!

"ton of decommits" - uhm, wrong, not a "ton," about as many as most schools get during a regime change. Maryland, with the "great" staff they assembled (according to a few here) has gotten crushed. Lost, IIRC, (3)4-star kids already and has seen its class drop about 25 spots (at one point it had dropped into the 70's...now back up to 51...ours had dropped to about 90...now at 71...was at 52 when Fudd was fired).

"Terry Shea like delay" - 100% pure bullshit. Ash was LITERALLY working 20-hour days from the second he was hired, even when at OSU for the 2 weeks of practice, whence he was only concentrating on OSU during actual practice and the films sessions. The rest of his days were spent putting together a coaching staff. During that same period, BTW, it was the recruiting cycle's "silent" and "dead" periods.

No need to make stuff up to suit your own agenda.
