Terrible

Agreed. Defense is very good. Rebounding not bad. Scoring awful. Our Achilles heel. We don't have any scorers. At least not without a struggle.

and why are your surprised. Wisconsin is picked to win the league. They are 18 point favorites for a reason. I am thinking you were one of those fans who thought the 11-2 record meant the program had arrived and could start competing with the top teams in league on the road.

Wisconsin is very good. I'm aware of that. I'm talking about the effort. Bad shots, careless turnovers. The Seton Hall game and the Flight might have sumn to do with the sleep walking though

19-13....defense has been very very good. Its going to be tough to contain Wisky for a long time but RU has maintained course and kept themselves in at least...theyt are battling

Uhm, it's 24-16 with 4 to go in the half. I'll never understand why people start new threads, like this, wayyyyy to early in games. Not a beautiful half, could get "blown out," but not the case.

Effort is there but there seems to be an eternal lid on our hoop. Never seen so many balls be half way down and then come out. That Sanders one was just ridiculous.

BTW - not sure what you're expecting. We're 19-point dogs. We've improved - NO QUESTION - but we've got a long way to go, we're on the road, and they're a Sweet-16 type of team this year.

Reality check game for fans.Against weak competition Rutgers was able to grind out 11 wins which is amazing as compared to last season.League competition will expose team flaws and coaching can't correct them because its a talent issue .Its hard to stay competitive when Williams is the only player showing a semblance of offense with 8 points. There will be a very small margin for error in every remaining game because of the lack of scorers.Opponents will also neutralize Rutgers previous advantage in rebounding and cause turnovers and easy transition baskets.Fans really need to stay realistic and understand how difficult it will be to achieve 5 more wins when the team is so offensively challenged.

I would be beyond ecstatic if we get to 14 wins on the season.

I think we will play different at the RAC also.

Absolutely. The key will be how Pikes has approached everything with this group, so that they don't start to get dismayed as the season rolls along, but I think we'll be happy with that aspect of things.

Shooting is the only terrible thing about this RU team. Tuns of effort on D and on the boards.

Wisconsin is a quality team. They play soundly. are strong defensively and are ranked 14th and favored to win the B1G. But the announcers, who are not familiar with RU 16-17, mentioned often how hard RU fought on defense, and dug out offensive rebounds. Last year, they said, not so much. They closed to 9 and fell back--we don't have enough firepower. Maybe next year or two.
This is a Wisconsin team that had five guys go pro, including Sam Dekker, who has played well for Houston off the bench. He does the dirty work, much like the current players do. No more Bo Ryan, but they play pretty much the same way. Hard.
Williams may now be our big gun--glad he is only a junior, but he has come a ways this year.
TL
Let's get Penn State--Northwestern was whacking them when I turned it off.

I would be beyond ecstatic if we get to 14 wins on the season.
"Beyond ecstatic" with a 3-16 record against B1G competition? You can set the bar higher than that after where we are now. Satisfied with year one if we show growth in-conference and 14 total wins? Okay. I would be ecstatic with 16 wins, and beyond ecstatic with 17+ wins.

Wisc is possibly the best team in the B10 according to the game announcers Even the announcers were lauding the difference in culture & the improvement on defense. They mentione it repeatedly along with praise about how good Mike Williams was playing.

Its a but of success just getting respect for once

We're getting blown out and Wisconsin isn't even playing well. Sheesh
Do you actually watch college ball? Wisconsin is one of the top teams in the country and we played great D. We do need more shooters and we are working on that.

Outrebounded by SHU by 12 and Wisky by 9 after being one of the top rebounding teams in the nation. Reality setting in...especially after Mike had 9 and he is a guard and 6'2 tall.

Badgers are very good----they don't have a sexy style of play but they share the ball and defensively they make you work for every point.

RU played hard but with Sanders out early and late injury they lose the only guy who can take you off the dribble when shot clock is under 10 seconds.

You have to have that guy when you play Wisconsin.

Problem is neither Sanders nor Johnson know what to do with the ball when they get to the basket.
