the BS that Flood is a "nice" or stand-up guy...

I was 100% in Floods corner until I read the report. I do think he's a good man; a good husband, father, teacher and mentor and I think he has a good football mind but I no longer believe he's equipped to be an effective P5 head coach. If it was just an email? That's no big deal. But trying to covertly meet a professor off campus is just ridiculous and the act of a desperate fool. Sorry but he's lost my support because I don't think he can recover from this. I'm pissed this season is a loss before we even play the third game and I place the blame on him as ceo of the program.

One of the most sensible posts, from a long-time 100% Flood guy, in the past week or so (there are plenty of others, as well, don't get me wrong...).

From the minute seeing that 15 days of spring Flood's first year it was more than obvious he was in over his head. Very much a Fred Hill of fball, who fell into a highly structured program loaded with senior talent, unlike Hill.

But despite being largely unqualified and questionable on his level of ceo and coaching skills, we always thought he ran a program that followed the rules and carried the RU integrity started in the GS era forward. How anyone can still hold to that after the report is hard to fathom. How can the players be in a disciplined program knowing the coach tries to shave the rules. Why cant they shave them too? Everyone makes mistakes yes. And deserves second chances. But when you have certain positions, actions have ramifications for a reason-the program demands it to be one of integrity. And don't forget the cost in prestige and in scrutiny Flood has wrought on RU. He did that-no one else.

A second chance doesn't have to be at RU. It can be a position coach somewhere who if good enough on that second chance will get another shot. Nothing unfair about that.

the urban legend about Flood being a good guy is beyond nauseating, and something I think people just throw around without really knowing first hand....I have no idea, and don't care--but suppose in the end, how "standup" is it of him to ignore his academic staff multiple times, deliberately email and then meet with a prof, all for a player that he wanted eligible, at a position we have been very thin and inexperienced at the past few years? Would Flood have done this if Barnwell was 6th on the depth chart at RB?

the more I think about it, he should have been fired...that he didn't know is at best a weak excuse and at worst an outright lie--all from a "standup" guy...

actions speak louder than words...
Higher-ups who know him seem to think he actually is a decent person (first-hand knowledge).
So apparently do the parents of many recruits (from reporting). Not sure if Rettig's dad would say that, but many others do.
He may occasionally do something dumb, or stubborn/pigheaded - like leaving Nova in for 6 interceptions (an abject disgraceful coaching decision based on his stubbornness) or ignoring academic support staff who explicitly told him not to talk directly to the teacher, but he's not a bad and/or manipulative person.
I believe he actually does have the best interests of his players at heart - it's a priority - and that's more than you can say about many coaches.
A mixed bag, for sure...

Nobody WANTS this nonsense right now but that doesn't mean we STILL have to listen to the nonsense, about Flood from his incessant apologists, either. We all want a team that wins in the program we can be proud of off the field. That's it!
Cut the BS nuts....if Flood had more wins on his resume, you wouldn't be using this as an excuse to call for his head. None of you Flood haters would be....and that disgusts me.

It's so obvious. We get it.

No BS and please don't tell me what to do, what I'm thinking, or anything else. Let's have constructive conversations and move along. Thank you.

Well I'm not anti-Flood and the last thing I wanted was another coaching change prior to when we are fully financially vested in 2021 because I believe continuity is the major key for any program's success. Also, on the field, the guy is career 7 games over .500 which is solid considering 3 conferences in 3 years and last years schedule. I also think he's a better recruiter than people give him credit for. But now, having a season get away from you before the third game? That's inexcusable. I had us going 6-6 before the season but after Wazzu, Carroo and now Flood being suspended, we will be lucky to win 4 games. He needs to go after the season.

What's the point in having a conversation with somebody that is so transparent?

If Flood had a top 20 team, all you people ripping him would be defending his true character....not disparaging him.
