I had no idea they were this bad. What happened -- besides Jamie Dixon leaving ?

The friction between Dixon and the administration factored into Dixon leaving. Huge mistake by Pitt. They are hampered by financial concerns as well. Might be headed back to the miserable years pre Ben Howland.

Pikiell needs to call them to schedule some Non-Conference Games...at least the next 4 years.

yet they're giving might ND a game right now and with a few less mistakes could have won. ND shooting like 17% 2nd half. And look nothing like this "top 10" team they are supposed to be with Colson back.

I'm a numbers guy but you can't just look at records. A win by 2 is not the same as a win by 10+ and a loss by 2 is not the same as a los by 20. Yeah they got the win over Pitt..but very unimpressive.

BTW..I hate Dixon and his sideline antics.

Decline started when Jaime Dixon had a run-in or disagreement on the value of Barry "slice" Rohrsenn....he was the engine (along with Brandin Knight) of recruiting/mining the NYC/NJ area.

Stallings has murdered the program. Only winless team in conference in the entire NCAA this year and they are absolutely terrible.

It's only year two, which is incredible. Are they going to fire him? No idea, I think money might be tight.

Was that before or after joining the ACC?

Jaime coached three years in the ACC and was still getting kids like Jamel Artis, Mike Young , Cameron Johnson on his way out. The ACC move certainly saw Pitt not recruiting like their Big East glory days but Dixon was still getting kids. Losing Rohrssen, as Hawk posted above, also hurt but he still had good recruiting assistants including Brandin Knight.

that was around the same time but the NYC/NJ pipeline really slowed down considerably, once they left the league and no longer made the migration to play at Rutgers, at Seton Hall, at St. Johns and the annual visit to NYC for the Big East tournament..........Rorhsenn went to Kentucky for a year, then surfaced at St Johns....

They are a P5 team. Better idea to play Pitt than a team like Stony Brook that is going to play over their heads and with a lot of emotion to knock off a P5 team.

I think he was joking.

Also, not that it changes your point but the Stony Brook games were part of Pike's contract buyout. We are now done with them.

Hurley can hold out for better

Like what...Duke ? lol Maybe UNC, lol. He is on the NC state, BC, Pitt, Seton Hall type level. Hey, maybe he will get ther Michigan State job....lol.

You think he can turn his noise up at a P5 Pitt program in the ACC with a solid history. What are you smoking?

Maybe he'll follow Bobby and go to AU assuming they are forced to can Miller.

The demise of the BE BB with the departures of UCONN, CUSE, WVA and Pitt. It's a decent conference but a shadow of its former self.

UCONN stuck in a weak conference. Hasn't been heard of since it won the NCAAs with Calhoun's recruits. And CUSE and PITT, programs on the decline in the ACC.

Lesson: The grass isn't always greener!!

Pitt is not in any permanent decline. It's all about the Coach....You probably would have said Virginia was in decline...then, they hire Tony Bennett and look at them now.

Wake Forest was in decline, but, they have a coach that just snagged two top 100 players in the 2018 class, so watch out for them.

South Carolina was never a factor, but, they get Frank Martin and last year made a nice run and will probably continue on that path.

Look at Vanderbilit, LSU...both with Multiple top 50 recruits...Bryce Drew and Will Wade.
