We should win this game, but Maryland is still a solid team. If we have an off night, they can easily beat us.Whenever I see everyone picking RU to win against a good team, I worry about whether the team might be overconfident and due for a letdown. 40+ years of disappointment will do that to you, lol. Having said that, at full strength, we've yet to not bring it on defense and only had the one clunker on offense (SHU), so I'm hopeful we continue our winning ways.
Without JY in the lineup, this team has been weak against on ball pressure on our backcourt. Willard is smart. I'm sure he watched the Seton Hall game. We'll see if he uses the the formula for beating us: try to mug us. Mug us harder than we mug them. Our perimeter players have to be able to attack the basket when the D overextends, and draw contact that results in free throws and not a charge. Not our strength.2 pronged question I will have for every game.......
1. How will Maryland respond to our defensive intensity. Will they be poised or completely disrupted. Almost all teams so far that we have faced have been disrupted.
2. Will Maryland defense extend out and take our half court offense out of our comfort zone?
The always obvious X factor is 3 point shooting. In one of our games we have been so good turning the ball over we were able to withstand a half of good 3 point shooting against us (Wakr Forest).
Your last game was obviously horrible as was the UCLA game but those don't really seem to represent the usual performance of the team.LOL, have you all seen the scores of our (UMD) games lately?
Pretty good!Think we come out guns blazing in front of a great crowd.
