THE OFFICIAL RUTGERS-TEMPLE PREDICTION THREAD

Assuming Paul and Caleb are out...

Rutgers 66
Temple 60

I like seeing internal conflicts at Temple. These things normally don't get sorted out right away. Sometimes the optimal solution is to get rid of the bad apple. I am getting ahead of myself here though

I expect Paul to play and Caleb to get 25 minutes (just a hunch).

Rutgers 64
Temple 58

Mark Macon and Donald Hodge held scoreless.

Temple doesn't have enough talent to hang for 40 minutes on 2 days rest compared to our 5 days

Rutgers 73
Temple 59

After playing 3 games in 6 days, Rutgers finally had time to recharge. We know Rutgers will bring the D. Temple will have some tough defense choices. Assuming PM is out, it is either Spencer/Simpson(Man D) or Cliff(Zone D). If Hyatt/Mag have good scoring nights, then Rutgers could win handily.

After a rough start with getting Simpson to settle down and some poor shooting, Rutgers pulls it together and wins.

I am going to hell for being part of any chant like that. Now that I am older and a bit kinder I feel really bad for him and others. It was and is so wrong.

One thing to yell something generic like you suck. To make fun of ones test scores is terrible.

Sorry Donald Hodge

Hard to give a prediction without knowing Paul and Caleb's status, but it sounds like Caleb will be out. I think Paul guts it out. Unfortunately this might be an issue all season

Every once in a while the message from the coach lights a fire under the kid called out and they come back and respond with a huge impact game. I don’t see Temple beating us without this happening as they simply are not as talented a team without Battle playing and contributing.

Never say never (JY had one lone stand out year from 3) but I’m a believer in laws of average. Damien Dunn was a career 27.5% 3 pt shooter coming into the season. Without his 7 threes and 14 team total 3s vs Vandy - that game isn’t close and the reason is that outside of a magical day from 3, Temple needs Battle’s offense. Temple connected on only 5 threes in each of their first 2 games by the way for uninspiring 25% and 21.7% team efforts from long range. Anything’s possible, but the odds of back to back can’t miss games from them from 3 doesn’t seem that likely.

If Paul plays:
RU 71 - TU 56

If Paul is out:
RU 63 - TU 60 with them missing a 3 to tie at the buzzer

This makes me angry

We match up well with teams who can't shoot the 3. If Caleb is back, I'm not sure this game ends up being all that close

Richie on the pod saying Caleb likely isn't back and he thinks Paul can play. At this point I'm not sure who plays, but think we win even if both are out

When you are playing poker it normally isn't wise to tell everyone what you are holding.

I'll stick with my hunch they both play.

Impossible to make a prediction without knowing the injury situation. So I'm hedging:

If Caleb and Paul both play:
RU 75
Temple 65

If Caleb plays but Paul doesn't:
RU 71
Temple 65

If Paul plays but Caleb doesn't:
RU 72
Temple 69

If neither Paul nor Caleb play:
Temple 72
Rutgers 67
In this last scenario, we're just missing too much of our key production, both on defense and offense.

Think we roll them (whether or not at full strength) - first nail biter game will be Miami (we will be 6-0 and win the next three by 60 points total).

Friday, Rutgers 71 Temple 53
