The Official Rutgers-Western Michigan prediction thread

This was a good win. We obviously came in flat off of yesterdays tough game vs South Carolina, yet we still came back to put them away. In the past this is the type of game we would lose. We outscored them pretty well over the last 3 quarters.

Typical let down game after a tough emotional contest yesterday. To their credit, they snapped out of it in time to right the ship.

Couldn’t believe we were getting out rebounded 30-10 at the half. CVS Experimented with combinations and came out in the 2nd half with the group which turned it aroundincluding Caitlin Jenkins who went on a tear and wound up with 17 points and 12 boards. Three games in 3 days is tough. But this group is up to the task.

As CVS said in the post game interview, the team's lackadaisical start showed an immaturity she was not pleased with, and she is "insulted" by the fact they outrebounded us. She said the team needs to understand that if SJU blows this team out, and the NCAA is looking at both RU and SJU, they need to play well against common opponents.

Agree with bac--these tournaments are weird, early start, team spent a lot of mental/physical energy against SC, but still no excuse for not coming out prepared to play our game. Hopefully they learn the lesson.

in the end RU did what it had to do:Win.
That's what counts.
This early in the season with all the players getting to know each-other's game real-time not just practice a game like this after a tough loss to a quality program
should be appreciated.
Might not have been a easy win against a program not considered very good, but the 3rd quarter surge RU had
that put RU ahead makes me believe this team will do what it takes to win even if having a bad day.

South Carolina 28 St. Johns 16 at the half. What a pain to play Washington State for 5th place tomorrow. I'd have love to see us knock off #17 USF instead.

When was the last time CVS talked about blowing a team out. Man times have changed.

We should not have been seeded 8th in this tournament but I guess seeding was based on last year’s record.

By the way, SC is up 53-38 on SJU. I guess Dawn is resting players in anticipation of facing Notre Dame tomorrow.

Edited to report the final - SC 76 SJU 58

I'm of the view that a win is good, and one in which they shook off a bad 1st quarter is even better. As others have pointed out, they dominated for 2 quarters, and that's how they won the game.

A win over Wazzou will still be nice - a Pac12 school. And that will put CVS one step closer - 5 down, 18 to go. Would love to see her get there this season.
