Changing the culture I agree is paramount. But you don't play favorites and demean any loyal players.
Further, demonstrating that you will do all you can to COMPETE sends the message loud and clear. The curious personnel choices tells one that compliance with coaching peccadillos are more important than player development and identifying and using the best players.
I think Ash has a plan. His inexperience -and the inexperience around him-has led him to not best put that plan forward. But remember his plan culminated with "getting back to where GS was" (paraphrased). Always of the thought that you need to seek excellence not just median effort.
FYI - this was Martin's 1st full, healthy week, since his injury (per Ash in today's presser)
