Forgive me if I don't want to get a running start on being pissed off about what is potentially our next hire. We'll all have lots and lots of time to get angry about all new screw-ups if Schiano is re-hired. I'll wait and get pissed off about those when they happen.
I hated his coach speak like this. It's a building process and we need to keep getting better until our better is better than their better.
GS was good for causing at least one loss a year just based on his own bad game day coaching.
He couldn't beat WV or figure out how to win the BE.
Too many meaningful games were losses - ie: Cincy 2006.

Not something I hated, but he never won the games he HAD to win.
Also, he had more cupcakes on the schedule than Cake Boss.
I know we needed that initially to just get to ANY kind of bowl, but it never really improved afterwards, and when it did, we lost (Fresno State, Maryland, )

The cutesy slanting defensive line. It carried over to Flood and continued to lead to long running plays surrendered via the gaping holes created.

A good OC will fix most things and I think he's learned some lessons through his travels since RU the first time. Think of Pete Carroll part 2.

Those sound really good after a season of 0-2 yard passes on 3rd and 9.
In his article on SI, he said he learned about how he could treat NFL scouts better.
If Schiano returns to college, one of the most drastic adjustments he’ll make is how he treats NFL scouts and personnel. Rutgers developed the worst reputation of any college program in how it treated NFL scouts evaluating its players, something Schiano looks back on and regrets. There were plenty of general managers around the NFL quietly chuckling when Schiano’s tenure in Tampa melted down, as he was infamous for limiting access and the amount of practice that scouts could watch at Rutgers. Schiano was mimicking the model of Paterno, who was notoriously difficult with NFL scouts. Again, by the time Schiano adjusted late in his tenure, it was too late to outdistance the reputation. “I didn’t see how that would help Rutgers, which was dumb,” Schiano says. “We were putting so many kids in the league even though it wasn’t a good visit. We could’ve put more in, probably.”
This is all so true. People whined incessantly about all this stuff.
What's sad is that people don't understand that this thread isn't judging Schiano at all. It's judging ourselves. There's a reason we say that we eat our own.
Someone should start a thread where we guess what habits the next coach will have that everybody will start complaining about. Coach-speak is always right up near the top of the list, despite the fact that all coaches do it (except coach Wilson).

That was pretty bizarre. I was sitting next to Sam Johnson's dad and saw that Schiano decided to refuse the penalty that would drive USF back another 5 yards for the field goal try. A true WTF moment.
