Then next 2 possessions touch foul calls that had no affect on the play, four more points from the foul line. 8 pints in a 2 minute period when we had a 4 point lead. Should have been up 8 with 2 minutes left. Very frustrating.

I couldn't agree more. Corey needs to learn how to successfully go to his left. When you're not a winning program you never seem to get those calls especially at the end of a game.

I believe this loss began when Mike Williams, whom I love missed the front end of a one and one and then McIntosh came down the court and nailed his only 3 point shot of the game. That put us down 2 and we never recovered. Heartbreaking. Just heartbreaking for our kids who played their guts out.

Agree but at some point we need to figure out how to finish a game. We flat out couldn't do it tonight. I've seen this game too many times in the past. Coach Pikiell has gotten as much out of game his team as anyone could expect. Next step is to teach them to finish.

to me its more like our offense is what it is, not very good, we made up for it alot tonight with 2nd chance opportunities after misses. I think some thing our guys can shoot lights out but they just have no consistency....50% in first half but only 33% in 2nd and just 1-8 on 3s. Only quibble is that Sanders jacked up an illadvised 3 when the game was RU up 1.

Watch again. We ran a 3 man weave up top with no one even thinking about moving towards the basket. Then johnson or sanders would pull it out and then try to bull rush towards the hoop or shoot a pull up jumper. Total ISO garbage. Pike guaranteed a loss with that crap.

You couldn't be more off base, that's how you're supposed to play with a lead in the last 4 minutes. It came down to a few bad calls and 2 bad defensive possessions by us.

RU didn't get quality looks in the 1st half but they went in. 3's off the dribble is not a quality look for anyone in a RU uniform. Anyone disagree with that? Their stats for the season say they were lucky in the 1st half. Reality set in the 2nd half and th e shit looks didn't fall.

The team can't shot. They need to work hard at getting quality looks at any point in the possession. They are clearly not good enough to get a good look in the last 10 seconds of the shot clock.

Even the announcers said that was a questionable call as they didn't see a foul. The replay absolutely showed no contact. The other was when we were up 4 and Williams had a one in one that he missed. We had hit 4 in a row before that (Gettys 2, & Nigel 2). After Mike missed McIntosh hit a 3 to make it a one point game. Our kids again player their rear end off but we didn't get a couple of calls down the stretch on the road. Even Nigel missed a 3 down the stretch and it looked like he was hammered. Joe Boylan even mentioned that after the game.

We did not stop playing offense this time. We did that in a game in the recent past and lost, trying to run the clock. I specifically thought about it tonight as the game ran down, from 12 mins to 8 mins and said wow great job Coach Pikiell keeping us running plays instead of dribbling around. The few times we slowed it down was because of momentum or key possessions, as it should be. But we did not play "prevent" O tonight. We missed three key 3 pointers in the final 3 mins and then Mike (AMAZING EFFORT ALL NIGHT THOUGH, ALL NIGHT) sadly fell victim to our woes again and missed the front end of the 1-1, those two things are what cost us in the end.

Coming down and shooting a quick 3 off the dribble? Bad shot. Drive and kick for an uncontested 3? Good shot no matter what the result. Johnson missed a great look the other day at the end of the game. I loved that it was a spot up open look.

I don't think anyone argued that the late calls against us putting them on the line were not legitimate other than the Gettys call – – they obviously were. And I don't think anyone argued that the referees were horrible through the entire course of the game. That has only happened twice this year. But northwestern caught two huge breaks in the final stages of a game that went down to the wire. And we will never know if the outcome would have been different without those calls.

Won't disagree. I've always believed that the overall reffing of a game is rarely blatently one-sided. Referees can more easily and quietly affect the game by the judicious use of the whistle (e.g. two quick fouls on an important player). We could've let the call against Gettys snowball and let the game slip away. The non-call on Omeruyi didn't matter with Williams fouled on the loose ball/rebound. That we missed the 1 and 1 was telling.

Winning teams overcome calls like that. We know those kind of calls happen all the time --- on both sides. It's a player/team's ability to put the blinders on and play through them that gets wins. We just don't do it often enough. We miss the FTs, commit the turnover, commit the frustration foul. When we get to that point (and we will) the wins will come.
