This loss is on Pike...

He decided to stop playing offense at some point with about 6-8 minutes left. Draining the shot clock and then having someone force up a shit shot is not offense. He gift wrapped this for NW.

Absolutely comical how we find ways to lose games.
How do you play efficient half court offense with guards who can't shoot from the perimeter, go left, or make free throws? That's pretty easy to defend. It's actually a testament to this coach that RU has even been competitive in some of these games. Last season's team had the same shortcomings. They would have lost this game by 40.

We have no chance at a decent look when we drain the clock and have sanders or Johnson start their attack from almost 30 feet out. Getty was on the block and passing into him wasn't even considered. It's not surprising that we didn't score in the last few minutes. Run your normal offense and live with that.

Don't let the man crush on Pike cloud your vision. Not everything he does is perfect. I'm very happy we got Pike and how he has really made us competitive with a team that is litreally the worst shooting (2's, 3's, ft's) in the b1g and likely very close to the bottom in the nation.

We know we always get jacked by the refs.
We know we won't hit our free throws.
Pike has a tough gig but he has to find a way to overcome that.

I agree with the OP for different reasons. This was a winnable game. The last few offensive possessions were awful. We didn't need a three and we are not good at shooting threes and hate the fact that we gave up on the last 3 secs. I get the math but there is a chance for a 4 pt play.

Just so the majority of the fan base knows, if you follow on social media, the team is spending time on free throw shooting. They still are not mentally ready for the last three minutes. So far, the progress has been immense. I am happy with it.

Next year could be very interesting. This season has definitely piqued the interest of fans, and recruits.

Overall the team was sharp with the ball. We threw away very few possessions. We would have been blown out by NW if we were sloppy with the ball. I like that progress.

Sanders needs to be brutally efficient for us to get over the hump. He still makes 4-5 totally brain dead passes per game, some of which end up as TO's. While it isnt fair to expect/require Sanders to play a perfect game, it's what is needed. I fully expect us to continue to be the worst shooting team in the b1g next year.
