This team looks waaaay better than last year.

Not sure I love Laurent from deep. Can almost guarantee at least one untimely attempt from him in the next game early in shot clock.
You have no idea how much dividends that will pay off in the future if he can hit the wide open three in the corner. Opposing defenses will scout that and have to play on him to contest it, which will open the back door cut...Laurent's favorite play from last year.

Agree, if Laurent hits the three could be an excellent player.

When we were up 28-26 with a little over 4 min to go in 1H, Sa controlled the glass....a major factor in us going on a 13-0 run to close half Once we play in the BIG, I would expect Sa 's minutes to go up. We have not had this type of player. Solid rebounder and shot blocker who can occasionally step out and hit a three. Nice get by the staff!!

Hey, Of course it's only one game against a"poor" opponent. But aren't these the kind of games we usually struggle with and play down to the level of the opponent? I was glad to see us not let up and go for the jugular.

No one is going to mistake Gettys for Frank Kaminsky. Of course he has his limitations. He was 5 and 5 for NC Wilmington. But he brings size (boy, does he bring size!) and energy. Not just to the team, but to the crowd! A distant reminder of Andre Lamoreaux, Lunch Moore, and that 6-7 sub forward with the hair, what's his name? He won't embarrass as a center, actually give us production, while he lets Doorson come back at his own pace -- not forced to play 'cause we got no one else.

No offense but you have no idea what you are talking about. Early and often? He is not a high volume force it kind of shooter. He may not be a shooter but you are totally inaccurate that he's a chucker. He shot 47% from the field last year and averaged less than 1 three point attempt per game last year.
What I mean is he's the player most likely to go 1 on 4 and/or shoot with 25 seconds on the shot clock. He had great energy and can finish but let's pump the brakes on his three point shooting ability.

Haha. You mean Joel Salvi?? He wore a headband too. Might want to add that to your description. ;)

Did not catch Friday's game, so I was eager to see yesterday's game. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I particularly like the depth. I can see Gettys getting into foul trouble a lot against bigger teams, so we are going to need it.

However, Gettys is what I had hoped for plus a little more. I think Thiam will be a player with time and Nigel Johnson has a chance to be a stud on this team. Love the fact that Laurent looks able to shoot the three...that will help tremendously.

Aside form Gettys, the team looks to be in very good shape athletically. I almost wonder if Freeman dropped too much weight since he's so undersized underneath.

IMO, if we ran pick and rolls against this team using Freeman and a few others in the first half, we could have scored at will.

Drexel is pretty bad and I don't think Doorson and Mike Williams played well. Also, the attendance was pretty awful but there is not much to be disappointed about. It's only been a couple of games, but last year's team was a disaster compared to what I saw yesterday.

Thanks LouDawg. I just drew a blank -- almost unforgivable because he was such a crowd favorite.

I'm sorry but that's just not true....he generally plays within himself.

Again, not arguing he will be a good shooter, but more so calling out your false claim that he is some sort of loose cannon

Yes, I watched this game because it came after the B1G soccer championship yesterday. It doesn't even look like the same team. Much stronger team. The body language said a lot. I was happily surprised for you guys...

One thing I saw from last nights game that bodes well for this team going forward, Laurent has developed his shot.

Two things are very apparent to the human eye:

1-The hustle, intensity and defense is much improved. Everyone going up for rebounds.

2-Given unforeseen circumstances, arriving on the banks could be Steve Pikiells last job search. In 6 months, he has done more than any coach we have had in the past 6 years.

Lots of fun to be had at the RAC this year. Love the energy in the cheap seats. Spaceship will be ready for liftoff soon..

I told my brother "This is unreal. This seems like the first time we have beat any opponent by 25, and it is the first time I have said "I cannot wait for this team to face better competition." Usually, it is the other team that gets to say these words.

The tides are changing on the Banks. That is noticeable.

IT IS KNIGHT AND DAAAAAAY

Laurent has to see the court and read the game better. Still forces his drives to the basket into 2 or three defenders. Also needs to look for his team mates more, too often has his mind set and the start of a move.

I think the staff will get these things in check and he will develop. He is just starting his sophomore year.

I agree, but it is still very important there is another potential threat from three. It helps everyone out. In some sense too, if he can draw fouls, keep driving.

Johnson is very good at drawing fouls it seems. Still early, but he might see the opportunity to put a Sealys bed on the foul line this year. If he hits his free throws, he is looking at 10-12 a game just at the line.

Agree, just much more coherently stated than my post!
