Thoughts on Ash and some of you being weirdos

Here's how I'd summarize the complaints I've heard:

1) "Waaah, waaah...he's just the co-defensive coordinator..."
Everyone around OSU football knows he is the lead. His co-coordinator is Luke Fickell the long time assistant who was interim after Tressel was canned. It's honorary due to Fickell's loyalty.

2) "He's ignoring all the groundwork he needs to lay...coaches, recruiting, PR"
No one has any detail and they're freaking out. What if the arrangement is for him to spend 85% of his time on Rutgers and 15% of his time game-planning against the ND defense? Meyer definitely needs that since he's so hands off w/the Defense and because Kelly is an evil genius.

3) "Where's his loyalty to Rutgers?"
There is loyalty at play. This year they are disappointed they're not playing for a championship, but winning a NY bowl against UND is important to the program. Especially since OSU goes against them in recruiting so often. Of course he has to have "loyalty" to his new school, but it's a tough call and we don't know the details.

4) "Waah waaah, the NJ media is always unfair picking on Rutgers"
"You people" should stop whining about the media mercilessly picking on Rutgers. If this board is representative of the fan base, we eat our own with the best of them. This dude hasn't official been in the job, hasn't even had his introductory press conference and it seems half+ the fan base has the torches and the pitchforks ready. Sheesh.

5) "OMG, recruittingggggg. OMG, OMG this classss"
While it'd be great for Ash to be able to steal a few recruits away at the last minute, it's going to be tough. He's not a nationally known coach and it's pretty late in the game. Next year's class is much more important. By all accounts, he's a smart intense dude who has been methodically planning for his dream job as head coach. He knows it'll be tough, but I don't think he'd have agreed to this unless he could handle it.

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. But, hey, that's just me.

I understand the need that some have to spin this into being the norm, but unless his contract states differently, its not the norm, he has a choice, and when given that choice, most assistant coaches being promoted to lead another program as their head coach, start immediately.

There is not a single person on these boards who is NOT "weird." Not...a....one...and that's okay!

(...but I'm with the OP right now. STFU already some of you!)
You should have taken your own advise when it came to Flood.

You and people like you turned every single thread, no matter the subject into an anti Flood thread. So you should STFU first.

First off, I was just having some fun, so chill. Second, I gave Flood the benefit of the doubt and backed him, 100%, until Oct of 2013 when on, and off the field, I began to realized what a bumbling idiot the guy was, so yeah, I gave him hell. Oh well! This poor guy hasn't even had his presser and some are freakin' out. The OP is 100% spot-on!

No one has any detail and they're freaking out.

This is the part I find so odd.

What was the point of freaking out yesterday and this morning. We're sure to have details later today, and then you can decide whether there is anything worth freaking out about. Unfortunately some people are so freaked out already, that even if this turns out to be benign they'll still remain freaked out.

Kumbuya my Lord, kumbuya...
