Thoughts on new parking at RAC.

Rutgers may be spending a good chunk of change on the practice facility but that doesn't mean that basic upkeep can't be done. They have well over half of a year to prepare the parking lots to maximize fan safety and take care of parking. However, it doesn't change as you hear the same complaints year after year. The hoops program/facility needs to be micromanaged much like football, probably even more so since their budget is nothing in comparison.

All of this complaints can be fixed easily by the next game. Let's see if anyone is listening.
We need to let them know, posting on a page will not do it. Hopefully everyone takes a minute to make a call or send an email tomorrow.

Parking will be a total disaster when the bigger name games begin. They knew the parking situation was going to be an issue over a year ago. For them not to have a better plan is inexcusable.

obviously if you had a fair/open mined attitude, you might accept a reasonable explanation if there was one
Give me anexample of a reasonable explanation for no lighting on the walkway.

The only possible reasonable explanation I can think of is that a tranformer went out during the game, cutting power unexpectedly to the lights. But even if that happened, Rutgers could have just driven a couple athletic department vans onto the grass and pointed the headlights across the walkways.

I guess you've never had problems while doing construction and you're a qualified electrician or a super??

I'm not sure what your comment has to do with anything.

Rutgers had over 4000 people attend the game at thr RAC. They have a responsibility to provide for safe entry and exits. That includes maintained walkways and adequate lighting.

Looks like they had an entrance for just yellow parking permits today. It was the first entrance coming from Suttons Lane. It makes sense since if you made it the second entrance and didn't have a pass there would be no place to turn around and will not back up if they just let the people with passes keep moving. But if you come from the other direction you will stuck in traffic.

that sign at first entrance from Sutton's said "yellow passes only", but without yellow pass where the hell do you go? I pulled in there and told him I don't have yellow pass and he said "it's for all, pull in", ?

The next entrance is where you would pay.

Looks like my original post in this thread was a little off. I thought things would be OK for the first OOC games.
I do find it strange that they haven't separated the Yellow lot into 2 different sections. Closer to the RAC should
be for season ticket holders. They way they have it now, as stated above, is the entrance for Yellow with Parking
Passes is farthest away from the RAC.

OK here's a solution:
Block off the entrance to Hospital road coming from Avenue E and allow you to only enter from Sutton La.
Make Hospital road 2 lanes one way towards the RAC
The Left lane for those without Parking Passes and the Right Lane for those with Parking Passes.
Make the first entrance for people without passes. Make the second entrance for those with Yellow Lot passes and keep the third entrance for those with Green Lot passes.
Place someone on the corner of Sutton Lane and Hospital Road to direct the cars into the proper lanes.
Hope this map works:

They way they did it does make sense though. First, doesn't matter where you pull in because it is one large lot so just pull in and park closer to the RAC. If they mover the Yellow Only entrance close to the RAC people would drive towards that entrance and not until they got there they would realize it is Yellow only and where would they turn around?

Block the entrance to Hospital Rd from Ave E? If I'm coming off Rt 18 then instead of following the well marked highway signs from Rt 18 to Ave E, I have to turn down Mettlers Lane and then turn at Suttons Lane (where there are no highway signs) and go to Hospital Rd.

If you're going to do what you suggest, why not close the entrance to Hospital Rd at Suttons Lane, and you only enter from Ave E. Then the first entrance is Green Passes, the second entrance is Yellow Passes, and the third entrance is Yellow Cash.

Of course, if you do that, you don't need 2 lanes to make Hospital Rd one-way from Ave E. As the people with passes can be quickly waived into lots. Only the cash entrance, which is the last one would back up. So you could still leave the second lane for people coming from Suttons Lane. (And they could combine what you suggest of keeping Hospital Rd one way, with 2 lanes, from Suttons Lane to the cash entrance, and after the cash entrance the pass people would continue in their lane down the 2-way street to the pass entrances.)

But all of this ignores the obvious question: If you have a yellow pass and enter from Suttons Lane and are familiar with traffic patterns at the RAC, why don't you enter the Yellow lot from Rockafeller Rd instead of Hosptal Rd.

Upstream, without blocking one end or another you'll still have the entrances to the Paid Green and Yellow Lots having people coming in from both directions.
As far as RT 18, coming from NB you would pass by Ave E and make the next right on to Suttons Lane. Coming towards NB you would make the left at the light
to get on Metlers Ln then make the next right to get on Suttons La.
I have no problem with entering a one way Avenue E and blocking Suttons La. It's the 2 way traffic both before and after the game that causes problems. It has
for years.

I noticed cars were parked adjacent to the baseball training facility across from the green lot entrance. What kind of passes are used at that location?

Guessing the people involved with running the parking lots.
