Throwing this out there early. We need a bar-event in Newark for the Hall Game.

Planning on grabbing some seats on StubHub but I'm up for some drinks beforehand.

I think Jersey07 put something together a few years ago up the street. Would be great to get this started early and "RUCK the ROCK".

Any of you younger fellas or a NUTS to get this together? Connections to the Alumni Asso?
Bello's was the place two years ago...

NOTE: Bello's does not open until 3 p.m. on Saturdays, so Bello's is not an option this year.

good to know. maybe that's just the spot and let it roll. since you were there what do you think?

I ate before i got there but met a few friends there and they have normal finger-food like chicken fingers etc...overall is was nice and no crazy hostile SHU fans...maybe a few were annoyed that so much Red was in the place.

SHU fans for the heated rivalry are still pretty friendly. Maybe not so much on the boards and at the arena.

Funny except for maybe PSU game, it’s the one game a year I most want to win. For all the greatness of the B1G conference, I do miss real rivals.

Indeed, the B1G is great but playing regional rivals is great, too. I'm looking forward to the St. John's and SHU games as much as any B1G game this season.

There is also PJ Ryan's which just opened and the Edison Ale House right next to the Prudential Center

I was at Redd’s that day two years ago and I thought the energy in that place was great. I believe that there were more Rutgers fans but everyone seemed to have a great time.

I think we should try to collectively take over Redds and pack as much red in there as possible to the point where those wearing blue will opt for a different location. However Bellos is a nice spot, perhaps too small for a larger RU crowd in the event they decide to open early.

So it sounds like Redd's is the spot and that even if a Rutgers Only location (i.e. Bellos like before) is an option many would still choose Redd's.

Just what I think I'm seeing here.

Too far away to get a large RU crowd

Go with Redds

Counterpoint, the distance from the arena and proximity to RU-N will dilute the Hall crowd and add to the Rutgers spirit. You only need to attract 30-40 people for this to be a happening pregame event.

Sorry for the new post, but I couldn't find the original conversation.

I received an e-mail stating Redd's is the official pre-game tailgate for the RU/SH game and it looks like there is a ticket package option to go along with it. Here's the e-mail:

Join fellow Rutgers alumni for an exclusive tailgate party before the Rutgers men’s basketball team takes on Seton Hall at the Prudential Center! Appetizers, two drink tickets (beer/wine) per person and giveaways are included.
Date: Saturday, December 15, 2018
Tailgate: 11:30 - 1:30 p.m.Tip Off: 2:00 p.m.
Location: Redd's Biergarten, 220 Market St., Newark, NJ 07102

Don't have a game ticket? The RUAA is offering special pricing that includes access to the pre-game tailgate plus a game ticket for a corner or baseline seat.
This offer is only available until Wednesday, December 12 or while supplies last. Prices: Tailgate Only: $20.00
Tailgate + Corner Ticket: $45.00 Tailgate + Baseline Ticket: $55.00

If RU fans don't gobble up those reserved tickets, they will be dumped on TicketExchange

Redds is great BTW

Even if you don't get a tailgate ticket just show up there early.

It should open around 10

I just received an e-mail from the RUAA with my tix attached... section 5, row 16.

Great deal!

For only $45, I got a ticket AND admission to the tailgate at Redd's, which includes unlimited appetizers (https://custom.cvent.com/3F4400364663401A8048BBE8904FC30C/files/9b2e05deb43244a88ed2d29f6d9705ce.pdf), two drink tickets, and exclusive RUAA giveaways.

For those who don't have tickets yet, there are still some available from the RUAA. Jump in on this deal while it lasts.! http://www.cvent.com/events/r-game-...tm_campaign=events&utm_content=SetonHall_2018

Can you go to Redd’s without having to purchase through the RUAA? Thx.

Yes

Redds is a large bar, they have a semi private room where they will probably have the food for the tailgate.

The rest of the bar is open to the public, I could see it having 50/50 fans at worst in red

A lot of Hall fans are loyal to Edison Ale House a few doors down

Doesn't look like the option that includes tickets is available anymore, unless I am not seeing something right.
