Thursday's NCAA tournament first round games discussion thread

Crazy. SHU down by 1 then Wofford nails three 3s in rapid succession to go up 10 with 3 minutes left.

I've gotta be honest, during the Big Ten season I questioned the narrative that said it was the best conference.

I don't feel that way anymore after yesterday.

there was no narrative that said the Big Ten was the best conference, it was the cold hard facts of KenPom and T-rank.

Oh for sure. They had by far the best performance of any conference in the November and December slates. But I saw some really ugly basketball during January and February... Indiana and Nebraska certainly regressed, for example, and so did Ohio State.

But I suppose other conferences probably went through the same deal and I just wasn't watching.

He went freakin beserk, not just pissed off. He was upset at this one kid in particular(don't know his name, he is a freshman). The other players had to hold Izzo back, he wouldn't let up. Wild scene. Of course he is pissed that the score has been so close to Bradley. Great, great emotion both teams and crowd.
Almost over the line, what a scene

When cbs was replaying later in night they cut it before when he jumped off stool going at him for second time

KGC and i in the exact same ballpark. We use bart and kenpom and both have said B1G is best. However, just like him, I wasn't 100% bought in. Part of it is my belief that Michigan, Michigan state and Purdue just aren't that good. That will be put to the test.

I am nuts and crazy, but I still think Ohio State and Maryland are right up there with the best teams.....at least talent wise.

Don't get me started on this.

The fact that McQuaid and Winston restrained Izzo tells me that Izzo has gone over the line before (Mike Riceesque) AND these 2 don't trust that Izzo is in control.

Enough already! It is 2019. This is not acceptable.

Let me add......journalists/media are being cowards here. Outside the Line was quick to bash Mike Rice and Rutgers. Do some digging and show some tapes. It is time to shine a light on this.

I would have paid you to come down to AC with me

Tropicana newly built sportsbook is impressive, lotta juice for the games.

I think 90% was on nova those missed free throws let the air out of the place

Going 1-4 yesterday. I'll go 4-1 today.

The terrible thing is that I missed so bad on some of these games.

Izzo is a legend. If the players had an issue they would not come to play for him including NBA players. Like his passion, players were playing like absolute crap and sleepwalking against a team that would finish 1-19 in the Big 10.

Bobby Knight was a legend too.

In horse racing it is acceptable to whip horses to make them go faster. I'll bet that would work with humans too. It isn't acceptable in 2019.

Go drive around without a seatbelt!!! :cop:

but the thing is once you get into conference play, it's all a wash. Every team that regresses like Indiana or Nebraska is losing games to other conference teams that are stepping up like Rutgers or Wisconsin or Purdue.

The only way to measure strength between conferences is in OOC play because everybody is playing their own zero sum game in conference play. Yes the ACC has 3 #1 seeds, but they also have 6 teams that would be in the conversation for absolute worst team in the Big Ten. I mean look at UNC. The only conference road games they played vs top 70 teams on KenPom were Duke, Louisville, Clemson, and NC State. They skipped games @ Virginia, Virginia Tech, FSU, and Syracuse. Not so tough to look dominant when you get almost all your tough games at home.

ok, now you've lost my support lol. That was the first over reach and personal intrusion to start it all.
Maybe you are joking or misreading

I don’t want Bac to drive without a seatbelt to get hurt real badly. People often say we never wore seatbelts or had baby car seats when I was a kid.....

In addition, definitely not personal with Bac!

The Big Ten ranked dead last in effective field goal percentage in conference play... you can't convince me that was because the defenses were so outstanding.

oh, definitely joking. I meant Government over reach and the pussification of america. nothing about your debate with him.

nobody said the Big Ten had the best offenses. But with 11 of 14 teams residing in the top 50 of KenPom defenses, they can really hang their hat on that end of the floor.

Big Ten isn't winning any awards for beautiful basketball this year, just brutally effective. The nice thing about college basketball is there are different ways to win games. While it's nice to make a bunch of 3s every game, it isn't a requirement.

B1G needs to expand.....this way Rutgers poor shooting has a lesser impact on averages. If you can't change the numerator the next step is always try to move the denominator!

We were 10th in eFG% in the conference... which is mind-blowing. Just barely ahead of Penn State, Indiana, and Nebraska, and then NW way down in last.

I couldn't believe I was watching the Gophers
