To give some perspective on the depth and lack of talent issues in the program, below is the list of 2013 and 2014 commitments, players who would be 3rd and 4th year core of the team, and where they are now. Of 45 players, 16 of them, almost 40%, are no longer with the program. Many others, especially in the 2013 class are buried in the depth chart and will likely never be significant contributors. Many players with potential never lived up to that potential.
2013
Nadir Barnwell - arrested, no longer with the program
Anthony Cioffi - solid starter as DB
TJ Taylor - not a significant contributor
Myles Nash - 2nd string DE
Nick Internicola - no longer with the program
Andre Patton - solid starting receiver
Janarion Grant - star athlete
Chris Laviano - not very good QB
Bryant Gross - no longer with the program
Lester Liston - no longer with the program
Dorian Miller - starting OL
Justin Goodwin - solid running back
Dontea Ayres - no longer with the program
Nick Arcidiacono - starting TE, decent
Sebastian Joseph - solid starting DT
Taylor Marini - 6 catches in TE career
Delon Stephenson - arrested, no longer with the program
John Tsimis - contributing WR, decent
Josh Klecko - no longer with the program
Kemoko Turay - showed flashes as R-FR, regressed since
Devan Carter - never contributed, buried behind RBs
2014
Josh Hicks - star RB
Justin Nelson - no longer with program
Sidney Gopre - didn't qualify
Saquan Hampton - starting DB
Kam Lott - no longer with the program
Robert Martin - star RB
Donald Bedell - no longer with program
Jacob Kraut - no longer with program
Kevin Wilkins - 2nd string DT
Eric Wiafe - buried on DL depth chart
Jacquis Webb - no longer with program
Dre Boggs - arrested, no longer with the program
Marcus Applefield - starting OL
George Behr - buried on TE depth chart
Tariq Cole - starting OL
Zack Heeman - 2nd string OL
Jimmy Hogan - buried on DL depth chart
Gio Rescigno - fighting for backup QB spot
Darian Dailey - arrested, no longer with the program
Isaiah Wharton - starting DB
Alan Lucy - starting LS
Sam Blue - no longer with program
Eric Margolis - 2nd string LB
Cal Ibanez - no longer with program
These two classes and the attrition from them are the reason we have such little talent right now in the program. Cannot blame Ash for these problems as he has what he has to work with.
