I mean, do you see that happening? Not if he gets to 6 wins next year AND shows he has a QB for the next two seasons.

Recruiting has already taken a downhill slide unfortunately. He's going to have to kill the transfer market.I think it’s possible and my statement wasn’t in regards to the expectations.
The statement was that my personal threshold and allowance for Greg to show that he’s building this program is next year. It’s year 2 with his QB and the defense is clicking.
So if he can’t get it going next season then I don’t think he will. The downhill slide will begin to occur too quickly at that point.
Now you're being ridiculous. Have you seen many of the good North Jersey HS teams ?Not sure our QB could start for the good North Jersey HS teams.
Some of us have seen quite a few Rutgers football head coaches over the years. All of them since Frank Burns, with the possible exception of Doug Graber, are the reason some here think so much of Schiano. So you don’t believe in the coach…ok
People making excuses..as if it’s not Greg’s fault but “the programs” fault. Just wanted to point out the huge difference
Do what next year? What are your test criteria?next year will be the test, do it or get out time.
and lack of trust the RU Administration knows is willing to hire quality at the going rate and not try for bargains instead of paying what it takes ..Some of us have seen quite a few Rutgers football head coaches over the years. At least Dick Anderson beat PSU.. iirc. Some of us have seen quite a few Rutgers football head coaches over the years. All of them since Frank Burns, with the possible exception of Doug Graber, are the reason some here think so much of Schiano.
Instant gratification? I think most would be happy with improvement, which we haven’t even seen. We are all supposed to excuse a 38-0 blowout against maryland in year 3 because he needs more time? I dont think fans in any other power 5 program would accept that. Why should we?and lack of trust the RU Administration knows is willing to hire quality at the going rate and not try for bargains instead of paying what it takes ..
Greg1 proved to be what RU needed, so natural a chance for starting a Greg2 era was met with excitement from those who seen Burns succeed at the D-1AA level of play m but when D-1A time came had the scheduled but not the backing causing him to fail.
Dick Anderson came in looking fairly good, went out as a loser.
Graber gave hope, until program looked hopeless..
Shea, will just leave his name without comment .
Gereg1 turned a joke of a program into a respected one than headed for the bay with whispers about not being good enough to bring RU FB up into the elite category.following him
Flood had some success, but program was slowly disintegrating under his leadership.
Kyle did win more than he lost, but program looked rogue under him and talent level decling from what he inherited.
Ash is another name that doesn't need further ado !!
Schiano2 has had 3 years to fix the mess he took over, he built a program that started to make believers in his 4th year and in the following years raised RU FB fans expectations
from year 5 of Greg1 that had not been very high since the Dr.John , then the Burnsie era.
What Greg did his first go around is make it so losing wasn't an option and the fanbase wouldn't accept lack of success because of low expectations .
Now even in a rebuilding stage Schiano is getting heat because the wins aren't coming as fast as expected and the rebuild project should be finished by now s the feeling of many that have not received the instant gratification they expected when the Greg2 era started.
Also those that soured on Schiano towards the end of the Greg1 era are claiming their never Greg stance when the job became open, was the right one because RU isn't a winner yet.
I say the hang em high movement shouldn't be listened to until we see what year 4 in the Greg2 time looks like.
It will be get the rope because the program sucks or use it to lasso supporters because the program is starting to look like it will be a winner like happened in year four of the Greg1 ERA
This is what makes it worse. He takes no accountability or responsibility for his failures. At least if he manned up and admitted he needed to do a better job, I would respect him more. His comments after the game were ridiculous. “We didn’t exactly inherit the 86 Giants.”
It’s YEAR 3!!!
GS, please do Rutgers a favor and step down. Your time has passed.
You should feel bad for insulting Buddy Ryan. ; )Guy is a dinosaur. He's the modern day Buddy Ryan.
Greg actually said in the presser that he will look in the mirror and decide if he wants to do this job anymore. Then he said that he doesn’t need to do this.
Agree that he takes no responsibility for the current failures of the program after year three.
Please make this happen. That sounds like he’s contemplating resigning.
He’ll say the NIL landscape changed everything
Frankly, most of my buds who are not Rutgers fans think that Rutgers will be a perennial doormat no matter who they get to be head coach. This is a particularly steep hill to climb.Do what next year? What are your test criteria?
I see another 4-8 next season with 1-2 B1G wins. I feel that RU will be a perennial doormat with Greg as HC.
Here is the quote:Greg actually said in the presser that he will look in the mirror and decide if he wants to do this job anymore. Then he said that he doesn’t need to do this.

Here is the quote:
"Every single season, it starts with me. Do I still want to do this? Am I a good enough coach to do this? I literally have to do that. Because I'm in charge. I got to look at it and say 'okay'. It goes from there and it goes through every other position... Now, will I start with the coaches? Yes, because that's time sensitive. The hiring mode is now.,,"
In that context, it sounds like his introspective statements are pretty much rhetorical. Sounds like there is only one person that he is CERTAIN he wants back, and his name is Greg Schiano.
for me it was when NV was pegged the starter in year 3I commend you on making it to today. For me, it was the Minnesota game.
That fan turnout today was embarrassing. Looked like about 10k. Reverse the roles: we are 6-5 and just played OSU on the road tough. Beautiful weather - we get a legit 45k at SHI. Theses facts make it even more frustrating that we suck so bad.Been going to RU games for 70+ years. Dad was an alum RC'32. Nothing I saw this season gives me any hope for a positive turnaround anytime soon. Imagine RU's crop of current QBs aren't as good as Teel and Nova who had success against lower grade competition in the old BE!!!
UMD with their best record since joining the B1G can't put fans in the seats. When I commented earlier this season that their program is light years ahead of RU, I was roundly criticized. Today conformed my point. And they don't have near the fan support RU has..
You and all of Scarlet Nation. So very glad this season is over.
You and all of Scarlet Nation.
We do not resemble anything close to a P5 Football program.
Under Schiano we probably never will.
Wishful thinking. At best Hobbs eats the last two years of the contract. We have 23-24 more losses to endure unless he schedules multiple FCS each year. He's already a lame duck coach.
I dont believe in this program. I suspect there are others like me
Oh stop. We saw what a hobbs search looked like in 2015What were you doing when Hobbs considered Schiano to be a sub-.500 head coach who'd never won even a share of a conference title and was trying to conduct a real coaching search in 2019?
What he needs is a whole lot of money and if that doesn’t happen he’s going to have nothing to do but watch Louisville reruns and judge Judy on his couch after next year .Recruiting has already taken a downhill slide unfortunately. He's going to have to kill the transfer market.
BS. He’s enjoying every minute of this fleecing. He can’t be held accountable and knows it. And Hobbs knows it. And Holloway and the Board know it.Greg actually said in the presser that he will look in the mirror and decide if he wants to do this job anymore. Then he said that he doesn’t need to do this.
Agree that he takes no responsibility for the current failures of the program after year three.
Did he really say that? Way to throw your players under the bus.His comments after the game were ridiculous. “We didn’t exactly inherit the 86 Giants.”
It’s YEAR 3!!!
GS, please do Rutgers a favor and step down. Your time has passed.
God bless you. You have me by 20 and made me feel at least somewhat less crazy.Been going to RU games for 70+ years. Dad was an alum RC'32.
