The gave CL two plays when we had third and goal from the one.
How did that work out?
I believe that if TO had all four plays we score from there.

Allows him to throw the ball higher up into the air.Would have been a perfect time for Rettig at the goal line. Much higher ceiling would have given the offense more room to move.
Goal line offense:
Line up 4 QBs behind the line of scrimmage. Laviano, Allen, Oden and Rescigno. Flea flicker where they all get a touch and Laviano goes to the end zone for a TD.
I actually wouldn't be surprised to see CL and TO on the field at the same time this Saturday. We're gonna need trick plays to score
Yeah- like the Michigan game! [banana][cheers]Save those plays. There are games on the schedule we have the potential to win with some creativity out there.
Not to mention that OSU is crushing opposing teams. Might not be ideal to expose the wee lad, Oden, to the sorts of hits he would likely encounter in that game until he's had a full year of D1 S&C.Save those plays. Pot meet kettle on you and Laviano. "Continued derision of Rettig" is laughable. The comment was poking fun at the folks that would not give the "higher ceiling" crap a rest. While in longer passing situations, it fairly well-accepted Rettig has the strongest and most accurate arm on the team, but that inapplicable on goal line offense, and was just having a little fun with the silly "higher ceiling" comment. Find a post where I "derided" Rettig. Lighten up, Francis.Knight Shift---Your continued derision of Rettig (as well as attempts to cut off all discussion of whether he should play) needs a rest. By all accounts the kid is supporting his teammates and should be supported. Sure his play can be commented on, but that he has high potential or ceiling when he is not playing and not in the apparent rotation---seems like in the thousand or so posts you have a day that should be put aside. We clearly get that you support the current qb situation and did so last year. Rettig I imagine is not enjoying not getting a shot. No need to deride any unfulfilled promise.
Knight Shift--Again accusing those of your actions. You have lobbied for Laviano over Retting all of last year and this year. C'mon let's be real.
As for the qb, yes I would like to see Oden, Retting or another qb. Yes I don't think CL gives the best chance for success. You won't find however where I have derided any player or in fact called for any changes at other positions. In fact have routinely credited the db's and rb's in particular and believe the staff is quite the step up by and large.
Your self professed mantra would be that no discussion of positions or changes by the staff is appropriate. .You are " behind the current coaches' choices on ALL positions, and despise the continued (and endless) derision by you and others of anybody's play. " In that case, not much for you to discuss. Your self appointed defender of the staff position (and attempts to stifle discussion you determine to be anti certain players or staff) has grown old long ago. You'll just have to accept that people watch the game's and will always consider if a different play or player would have worked.
As for the issue of strongest arm, if that is stipulate, wouldn't there be a time we may need a downfield throwing qb when facing a deficit that running wont do the trick? Even if in combination with a running qb?
The question that could be asked, and I didnt want to start a new thread on it..
Q. Should Ash and company have made the call in training camp, after seeing the QB talent and overall speed,WR talent NOT to run the power spread offense as the base offense this season?
Meaning..maybe he made a mistake trying to start running his offense with these players as the sole offense base scheme,in year one, instead of making the offense scheme fit the talent set he has right now??
more then a few veteran coaches recently got fired for doing just this....
Feedback?
Paul Robeson should have been in there, he would have run right past them, and in for the scoreBrian Leonard should have been in there. He would have leapt the defense in a single bound. He wouldn't have even been touched, because you don't tug on Superman's cape.
Laviano isn't a good pro style QB so why would you tailor the offense to his skills. The question that could be asked, and I didnt want to start a new thread on it..
