Took a look at their first two games. Highlighted in green are what I believe were positives, and red negatives.

Offense
Their QB is averaging 116 yards per game, with a mediocre completion % and paltry yards per pass attempt.

They gave up sacks and ran for less than 3 yds a carry against a decent DL, and didn’t versus a DL that had many new defensive starters.

Defense
Temple’s stops on 3rd down and their halftime adjustments killed TTFP. Our passing game

Our front seven has to be better than Buffalo, so we should see some sacks. Same goes for stopping the run.

To win: RU needs to concentrate on stopping the run all game long, force their QB to *try* to make plays, then come with the pressure. While their rush defense has been decent, their pass defense has not been. We need to throw more than recent games, mixing in the run. Lastly, we need special teams to continue their hot start to the season.

Your running numbers are greatly impacted by the sacks. The running game has actually been a strength. The problem is they gave it up half way through the 2Q against Temple.

In regards to the defense, we have a starting CB and LB returning to the lineup. They will be better but Williams will still be an issue.

I still think one of the biggest problems for Rutgers will be their newbies on the interior of their o line. Zettel and Johnson had great games last year when Rutgers had a lot of sr. experience there with Kaleb Johnson, etc. I think they will dominate the boys in the middle who are going to have enough problems already just dealing with the noise and not jumping off sides.

That is my biggest fear. McDaniels looks to call a pretty good game, though, and I would think he would be ready with some quick developing plays, play action, roll-outs, etc. I suspect Saturday night will not be a repeat of Baylor - TCU from last year.

Suffice to say this will be an issue for our 1st year starting QB, in his 1st ever start on the road, as well.

One of my concerns is that Penn state attempts to nullify the pass rush with screens and quick hitters to both fast true freshmen....Barkley and Polk. The Rutgers D needs to watch those two guys.

Agree. I expect laviano to have difficulty with the crowd noise.

Agreed. But, the fact that he played a half at Nebraska last year when Nova went down should help his poise.
