But enough about dat, no one cares about Rutguzzz. (Proceeds to spend the next 30 minutes talking over Ash about Urban Meyer and how he owns a share of a racehorse once owned by Nick Saban- then asks Ash if he's ever been to Yankee stadium)

Yes Coach Ash will be on WFAN at 3 pm Wednesday.

Did I hear someone say Rutguzz?

Spot on. Well done.

This is key to Ash being success here. Hope he is prepping for this interview big time. He has to win over mike. Numbah 1 in the ratings. You know all the Mongos will be lisenting.

You don't win over Mike you don't win over NYC. End of story.

You don't win over Mike if you coach college football because he stopped watching it in the 80's. When he is forced to talk about college football he is pretty damn clueless. He might know his NFL, baseball, and horses but college football passed him by a long long time ago.

He was able to have conversations with Gary Danielson every week, so I think he's not that out of touch. The problem with the establishment is that they overvalue many programs based on past history (Penn State).

Urban gave Mike a very good interview in studio a few months ago, so I'm sure he will be fond of Ash.

Urban was promoting his book. Exactly, he's out of touch because he still thinks college football revolves around schools like Texas, PSU, and Miami. He probably couldn't even name the coaches at TCU, Baylor, etc.

If you want to engage Gary Danielson, just say the word "Alabama" and he'll wax poetic until the next 20-20 Update. And as stated previously, Urbie was promoting his book, not fielding hardball questions.

A fluff piece is exactly what you want in this situation. Why would anyone want Mike to ask hard-hitting questions in what is aimed at being an introduction to the NY sports world and a live commercial for Rutgers Football? This is for the general public's consumption, not this board.

I fixed it for you.

Mike doesn't want to talk about any college team not named St. John's. End of story.
Or Notre Dame.
And for those who cite his ratings, any arrogant sports talk host in NYC who talks Giants/Jets/Yankees/Mets and routinely pisses off fan bases (i.e. Jets/Mets) is going to have high ratings.

Mike is surprising cogent and on point. Asking good questions about type of players needed to run offense, etc.

Except his pronunciation of Rutguzzzz.

That northwestern team that turned it all around in 95 will always be one of my favorite teams.....nice to know that Vince Okruch was on that staff.

Pretty good interview right up until the end where he said that Rutgers should strive to be like Indiana.

How bad does he think we are? We can do better than that.

Before I read through the thread, I actually thought this was a real "summary" of Fatso's interview, lol. Prefer music to sports radio - different strokes...

haha, Indiana. The team we beat two years in a row and have been to 5x the number of bowl games.

My favorite Fatso line was, "So, do you think it is too much to ask of Rutgers to win duh Big Ten?".

Yeah, Mike. After reaching the Big Ten we should just roll over & go back to the Patriot League. Dipshit.

Especially when he could have said Wisconsin, which was discussed in the interview.
