Urb Meyer told Ash to take RU job over Syracuse

All good bro. I respect you. Im retired from this thread. Enjoy the Cuse bashing. Until next time.
Money, I'm not a Cuse basher and respect your football knowledge. You said you coach High School football, so did I and can respect you for that! But let's get back to why this thread was originally started. It's why Urban told Ash to pick RU over Cuse. You basically confirmed the reason in one of your posts that said "Cuse does not put enough emphasis or focus into building a strong Football program" Basketball, Soccer and Lacrosse are more important. so don't you think that deters players and some coaches from coming to Cuse! The football landscape has changed dramatically over the last 20 years and RU has landed a great opportunity. Players and Coaches recognize this and realize RU is the better choice for them right now if they want to compete at a higher level! That should sum it up.

Great points IMO. Also, I know cuse has done some recent work with facilities, but for all the guff we give ourselves (deserved and undeserved) about our facilities, I would NOT trade places with cuse for a nanosecond. While their dome offers some distinct advantages, it's also very, very difficult to upgrade/ expand...and there's a reason they needed a dome in the first place.

Thanks Joe! I know it's hard to see for some non RU fans that things have changed here. The recent overhaul of our athletic dept. is already miles ahead of where we were last year! A new commitment has been made to fully competing in the BIG at a high level. The monies are coming and the staff is in place. Yeah we need several years yet to take on the Big Boys, but it's all set in place and we really have no excuse anymore to fail in the BIG!

Syracuse will never amount to much until they get out of that sorry dome and play at an actual football field.

I must have missed all of the success that Rutgers has had in football over the year, Meyer wanted Ash to go to Rutgers , because he knows its an easy win for him.

Wow how witty....you got to be another envious Cuse loser...fallin behind stings..huh? Have a little class and own it!!

Thats fine but no one wanted Ash in Syracuse. Unproven HC and defensive guy. You don't know if his formula works. It might take 3 years before you guys find out. If he's bad, you start all over again. If he's good someone else will take him. Im fine with SU football not being a destination job. We are too good in other sports to worry about football so much. Have fun putting all your athletic hopes into football. Your best senior dominate team will get you to 8-4 at best.
Which will most likely be 7 more wins than SU. Babers will find out he is in over his head.

That's right we are tied in National Championships at 1. Yes that "1" national championship was more recent (1959). But if you think 1959 was recent, then the Rutgers Final Four team must have been just yesterday (1976).

I am envious of programs that win like Alabama and Clemson, not doormat programs like Rutgers.
Then why are you here? Something's got you concerned? Alabama? If that's what you want to play by a different set of rules why follow legitimate student athletes here in the NE? Clemson? Opps WVU just scored again Clemson? Talking about doormats hows Cuse doing? Oh thats right they had to hire a new coach too!!! After HCCA begged off after being schooled and realizing better opportunities knocked!! Nice try though....try it here you'll like it...join the better FB program...something drew you here!!!After all you been lurking here for 7 yrs!!

Don't expect you Fruit-flies to be envious of the Rutgers FB program.
I just know you have to look up it now, because RU FB is on the rise while the fruities have declined becoming a bottom-feeder type of program
Fruit football has turned rotten and the only future the Fruit-flies have to look forward to is : remembering the past glory that the Syracuse FB program once had and knowing that Fruit football will never come close to achieving that type of glory again.

It's totally understandable for some of our dimmer posters to miss that, so let me repost what GoodOl'Rutgers did a little earlier in the thread:

Syracuse' last ten games vs Rutgers..

2012/10/13 Syracuse 15 - Rutgers 23 L
2011/10/01 Syracuse 16 - Rutgers 19 L OT

Right..because Meyer was shaking in his boots at the other prospective coaches we may have hired LOL! Apparently you are not aware that Urban takes a tremendous amount of pride in assistants from his "coaching tree" becoming successful head coaches themselves. It's part of his legacy. Now of course there is no guarantee that Ash or any other Meyer assistant WILL be successful as a HC, but contrary to what you believe, Meyer wants Ash to be successful and wasn't sending him to RU because he knows it will "be an easy win". That has to be the dumbest thing I've read on these internet boards in a long time and there's plenty of stupidity to go around over on the comments section at nj dot com.

I'm not a betting man, but I will wager that Urban is retired and working in a cushy TV gig before Ash leaves RU. Translation: by the time Ash has RU up and running at full steam (give or take the next 3 to 4 years or so) Urban will no longer be the coach of OSU. And there is a solid chance that Harbaugh will be back in the NFL for that matter.

easy to see why you dont bet. just spout off about alot of future events that wont ever happen, then sit back and smile at how smart you are.

So...what are you disputing exactly? What you think Harbaugh is going to finish his coaching career at Michigan? That Urban is going to coach at OSU for another decade? Which one? I give JH 5 more years at Michigan tops and then he will go back and try and win his Super Bowl. Urban 3 years, maybe 4 years tops. But you are missing the point of my original post which was in response to some idiot claiming that Meyer was scared of whoever else RU may have brought in so he told Ash to go there.

Downward slide from that will be quickly rectified .
Syracuse's 4-8 last season is the type of record Fruit-Flies will be hoping for every year,

Actually what Clemson does (" Clemson team that was in the title game last year") isn't something Syracuse will able to do . Clemson is one of the cream of the crop ACC FB programs Syracuse is just a bottom-feeder in that conference so any reference to Clemson doesn't mean Syracuse was being complemented, take that reference as an insult because the fruit are just plain rotten.

Um, sorry, but you're the rocket surgeon who mentioned missing our recent success. Don't worry, we understand your issues.

...and apparently it stopped after 1998. Do you listen to music on your Walkman while logging onto the Internet using the 100 free hours from the new AOL 3.0 cd you got in the mail?

Joe P.

And you don't even have a walkman or aol, you are living in a cardboard box.

At least we had relevance.
Had is true and that's all you have to cling to now. Looking at the Fruit FB program today and considering how Fruit FB will be in the future: this is the only thing you can say now:
Nevermore450.gif

While for Rutgers fans all the signs say:

And you don't even have a walkman or aol, you are living in a cardboard box.

...I must have went to sleep and woke up in 5th grade. Dude, that was just terrible. The next time the teacher passes out the Troll Book Club order form, see if you can pick this up:

...and please, tell my mortgage company about your cardboard box theory; maybe they'll cut me a break.

You'd never have guessed!!! So you're here for 7 plus years to defend this particular post? OK...we buy that..

You are absolutely right. Very classy response. I agree Rutgers is more attractive right now.

The structure of the Dome is old and needed to be updated for years. I give an edge to Rutgers when it comes to the stadium. Other than that, Syracuse has the edge from what I've seen. The Dome will be revamped in 2 years. It will look similar to Minnesota's dome.

I saw that cuse was currently in the process of doing that and are weighing different designs/ options, etc. I also saw they were trying to get out of the awful agreement with Carrier but it's been a no-go so far.

Joe P.

I think we can now all agree that the abilities and recruiting talents of the Head Coach outweighs everything else. It outweighs facilities, recruiting geography, fan support, administration support, media support, perception, donors , EVERYTHING. Even the Alabama’s and Notre Dames have made hiring mistakes. But they can quickly pivot and correct the mistake.
