USA Today writer: “Darkest day in Big Ten history”

If there were reports of entire teams getting the virus after playing two games , this might Have been a reasonable take.

You’re talking about a columnist who was still citing Duke Lacrosse as evidence of a rape culture in college sports for years after that story was debunked for everyone else who thinks with their brain and not their SJW agenda.

hyperbole doesn't suit the moment. sandusky and nasser were much bigger moments that were national news because of their severity. B10 football during COVID has been a politically charged argument in a politically overcharged environment.

The Debbie Downers are out in full force at NJ.com:

LOSERS:
Rutgers: While this season could be beneficial from a player development standpoint, the Scarlet Knights were more than happy to keep recruiting and retooling for as long as they could have without playing a game. But now the season is here, and Greg Schiano needs to keep the fanbase engaged and excited and close out the 2021 recruiting class while, in all likelihood, muddling through a tough fall where wins will be hard to come by.

Have you missed how many games postponed after 2 weeks? BYU - Army isn't playing Saturday. Va Tech has postponed 2. Ark State postponed their game this Sat after an outbreak. Now K State, the team they played Saturday, has something like 10 positives.

Texas Tech has reported 75 positives. A number of teams stopped practicing.

No matter how we try, you can't wish this away. There's no magical disappearance happening.

I love that there likely will be R Football but nothing is guaranteed.

Wow, pretty unbelievable.

I missed all of their criticism (NJ.com and Christine from USA Today) of Syracuse, Army, Pitt, Temple, and Notre Dame, who are somehow located in the same region as the Big Ten and also playing. In fact, didn't nj.com send a reporter to cover the Army game last week?

These people are morons. Children, high schools, most universities, and the NFL are all playing football. It isn't a heavy lift for the B1G is figure out a safe way to do so as well.

She might have more credibility if she advocated daily testing or shutting down SORORITIES AND FRATERNITIES, where most of transmissions take place. But no, only football.

OTOH, the Asbury Park Press writer, who is a Syracuse alum and a decent writer, is positive:

And Edelson, whose opinions don't usually like, was all in on the restart:

Her tweet kind of proves the point though. They can detect when there are issues and cancel games. I'd say this is an example of the system working and not of it not working.

Also, the Big Ten's testing is going to be the gold standard so it will do an even better job of detection.

Agree. And with the start of the B1G season 5 weeks away there is plenty of time to adjust the plan if the virus heats up.

Still a good chance that the season is shortened for the league, but the greater risk was Not Playing, once the ACC and SEC started playing games. B1G made the right move here.

And Politi is proof positive that somewhere a village has been deprived of an idiot.

And 98% is to airports and motels.
Not untrue. As somebody who spends 100 days a year in those airports and hotels, I'll agree it is ubiquitous. But the money still spends.
When newspapers all across the country are ACTUALLY dying, pointing to one of the very rare few that isn't - and falsely claiming it is, just because someone is triggered about an opinion piece from one of it's columnists - is just inaccurate. Hell, while everybody else is furloughing at best and laying off or going under altogether, the USA Today is actually hiring.

they are just big babies when their agendas aren't met--that's why the majority of americans have no confidence in the media---as I said the corona bros are upset--they want the virus mentality to fluorish--its sick--they hate if infections grind to a halt

I don't get why it's so risky to these media types? Contracting the virus isn't a death sentence like they make it out to be. This constant negative slant will take a drastic turn if they get their way in Nov.. It's like dealing with 5 yr. old's throwing a tantrum. Give them all an ice cream cone and shut the fvck up already, it's nauseating at this point.

So what? The majority are and will continue playing.
