Virginia Tech game, Sat., 9/21 - anyone thinking of going?

Just got an email also. So is everyone thinking of ordering through RU so we sit together?

I'm likely ordering thru RU to guarantee a seat. I don't usually like to sit in away game seats but getting tickets to this one thru 3rd parties makes me nervous.

Did you receive an e-mail? None for me, which is par for the course for the ticket office.

I did not. My rep said later this week.
I looked on scarletnights.com and could not see a way to purchase away game tickets yet. I will circle back here and let you know when I get the email

Been there once agest ago./. for VTech vs BC Thursday night game before seeing Rutgers unexpectedly stumble at Duke.

Do the Blue Ridge Parkway thing while down there. Beautiful country!

I asked MS-Copilot what to do around September 21 there and it said:

Certainly! 🏈 Around September 21 near Virginia Tech, you’ll find some great activities:

  1. Hiking Adventures:
    • Cascades National Recreation Area: Explore a four-mile trail leading to a stunning 66-foot waterfall in Jefferson National Forest.
    • McAfee Knob: A 4.4-mile hike with panoramic views of the Catawba Valley and surrounding mountains.
    • Appalachian Trail: Virginia boasts 544 miles of the famous trail, accessible from nearby areas.
    • Huckleberry Trail: A 13-mile paved trail connecting Blacksburg and Christiansburg.
  2. Water Activities:
    • Claytor Lake State Park: Ideal for camping, swimming, hiking, and watersports in Dublin.
    • Kayaking & Tubing on the New River: Enjoy the scenic beauty of southwest Virginia.
  3. Arts & Culture:
    • Check out exhibits and performances at the Moss Arts Center on the Virginia Tech campus.
Whether you’re a football fan or an outdoor enthusiast, there’s something for everyone! 🌟
There's also a great golf course there. Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech is legit. Not a place for hackers. Plenty of other courses there too.

Ill be there have 10 people coming down, including Jimmy "Bingo" Palumbo of Kappa Sig fame and of course the moviee Beer League, and his various movie and tv roles. I hear you can tailgate in public lots if you get in early with a procession of cars. Trying to validate that....wish we had a game time. I got an an Airbnb that I believe is a few miles from stadium.

Awesome did you get tix through RU?

I have been following the RV parking, as we booked up our RV over the weekend. RV parking is sold out through the Parking Office/Athletics as of last week. Also, Airport parking is no longer available. The Inn parking is sold out and I was able to find one pass (for double the price) on StubHub. However, if you want a cheaper option, your best bet is a nearby campground. Apparently, it's Parent's Weekend as well which adds a layer of chaos to the weekend.

I just took a peak at regular parking. $175 to park seems crazy to me. I called our hotel in Radford, (where the nice man who answered the phone told me he is a RU grad) told me Uber was the best way to go.

We'll pre-book on Friday for Saturday AM pick up and deal with how to get back to the hotel later on.

I emailed the Inn months ago for Rv parking. I was on the wait list then was awarded a spot. $300 for the weekend

I don't have an RV but was also looking for how parking works there. I found on the Virginia Tech website a listvof places, there are off campus GameDay lots that seem reasonable that are 15-20 minute walks to the stadium. Our plan is to try to arrive 4 hours before kickoff to hopefully grab a spot in one of those lots.

Just call them. They will probably help you out.

I’m coming with a group of 10. Got a VRBO about 10 minutes away. Trying to figure out parking. Looked for a parking pass on StubHub but didn’t see any. Don’t mind paying to get decent tailgate parking. Don’t wanna be in a parking deck. Can anyone provide guidance?

Look into Blacksburg Breskfast Lions Club. I've parked there in the past, but someone else made the arrangements.
Really not sure about availability, but right next to Lane Stadium.

I posted in another thread that got lost--try 5-8 pages down. Someone posts 10-20 threads a day with no response, and helpful and useful threads get lost.

EDIT- try the second link and the first link has a link to a Reddit thread with no scandals, just parking info:

Ordered our Va Tech tickets through RU - Has anyone received the mobile download or know when to expect the download? We have heard nothing from RU since they processed the payment in July ??

Good luck with that. I bailed on doing this for all away games. Dealing with Rutgers and waiting for tickets is torture. Hope it goes well for you.
