And Cliff has become the guy in gym class that you didn’t cover and still nobody threw him ball
We’d still be better with himAnd Cliff has become the guy in gym class that you didn’t cover and still nobody threw him ball
Cliff twisted his ankle in the Texas A&M game on Saturday, and had a limited practice on Monday because of it.. I wouldn’t expect him to be 100% yet, which might explain his playing time and minimal stats in the Mississippi loss on Tuesday. And Cliff has become the guy in gym class that you didn’t cover and still nobody threw him ball
Yep. He needed to go elsewhere to try and develop further and improve his overall game. Not sure that is happening, but his lack of development over his 4 years at RU goes in the negative column for Pike and staff. Situations like this may hinder recruiting 4 and 5 star kids just as much as not making the NCAA's this year.He is shooting 74%. I'm guessing half of points are from dunks. No post up for Cliff at Alabama.
His minutes are 2/3rds of what they were last year but all the bad stuff has been eliminated by their coaching staff. Adjust for the minutes and his turnovers are down, assists are up, rebounds are up, steals and blocks are down (likely playing more disciplined), shooting percentage improved by almost 50% (51% to 74%).
He would never be this version at RU. Players are free to do what they want here. I want Alabama version of Cliff.
Actually, the poser is praising Clifford. He's ripping the RU coaching staff.I don’t understand the point of threads like this where poster rip former players who repped us well
Be careful you’ll be accused of just being here with an agenda to rip Pike spitting facts. You’re just supposed to be happy it’s not Littlepage or Jordan, a solid example that talent doesn’t develop here is irrelevant. Also if you just want the staff to adapt, adjust and truly coach up talent you’re also demanding too much.Yep. He needed to go elsewhere to try and develop further and improve his overall game. Feeding Cliff for post ups and allowing him to shoot 3’s prioritized his theoretical NBA chance over what was best for the team.
Yep, and as Pike’s first high level recruit he needed to show he could develop that kind of player for the NBA. Or so I imagine he thought.I'll never forget this tweet from when Clif went through the draft process before coming back to Rutgers.
Coaches need to have a tough conversation with players about the reality of their future.
But the players also need to be ready to hear that reality. HC Pike could tell Clif he needs him to fit a different role (defense and rebounding, minimal offense involvement) but Clif needs to accept that.
And if Clif won't accept it - the coach needs to bench him and burn that relationship with a player HC Pike has had for multiple years.
It's a tough situation all around.
He’s not that guy. That guy wore slip-ons and a head-band.And Cliff has become the guy in gym class that you didn’t cover and still nobody threw him ball
Seriously! He used to throw line drives at rimHis last year even with his offensive limitations getting the ball to Cliff was a better option than the supporting cast for the most part except cam. Completely different situations.
Still not sure what the point of this isSeriously! He used to throw line drives at rim
In fairness, the average Alabama game has seven more possessions than a ‘23-‘24 Rutgers game, so that might explain the rebounding — his offensive and defensive rebounding percentage are about the same from the last few years. He is shooting 74%. I'm guessing half of points are from dunks. No post up for Cliff at Alabama.

I agree with you as long as he didn’t post up and take any of his brick shots. We could certainly use his rim protection and rebounding thoughStill not sure what the point of this is
We would have 3 more wins minimum with him in our lineup
Just because he isn’t a fit with Alabama doesn’t mean he wouldn’t help us
Look at the numbers.Seriously! He used to throw line drives at rim
Has he really developed and improved his overall game, or he is playing with better players that allow him just to do the things he does well?Yep. Where did you get this? I was looking for his dunk total but couldn't find a source.Cliff(24-25)
Dunk 31-35 88.6%
Non Dunk(within 5ft) 12-24 50%
(5ft to 3pt line} 4-6 66.7%
No 3pt attempts.
If Cliff is here, Lathan would still be here, no? Lathan has proven to be one of the best FT shooters on the team, when holding a lead and the other team is fouling you would put him in anyway, I'd think. Are we sure adding Clif only adds wins?
Lathan hit 4 key FTs late against UCLA.
If Clif is in does he hit those FTs?
Is he fouled more at the end of games leading to issues?
Yes adjusting for the numbers his points are up .2, rebounds .4 and assist are up, .4 per game. I would actually think it should be higher since he is playing on the 4th ranked team with much better players than we had last year.He is shooting 74%. I'm guessing half of points are from dunks. No post up for Cliff at Alabama.

Bart TorvikWhere did you get this? I was looking for his dunk total but couldn't find a source.
Basically 2/3rds of his baskets are dunks. I'd love to see all of the 24 non-dunks within 5 ft. I believe A LOT of them are layups.
I don't think Alabama helped develop him. They just told him what to do and what not to do based on his capabilities. This is who Cliff is. Did he essentially plateau 3 years ago?
