Anyone realistic knew this was going to be the toughest year of the rebuild and a rough year.

Greg has brought in talent to this program but they are young and not ready. Especially on the lines.

we lost several upperclassmen on offense to the NFL.
Our starting qb was injured in camp and wimsatt and Simon are young and not fully ready.

we all expected 4-5 wins this season in the preseason polls.

So why the huge overreaction so far We're 3-1. Season is playing out to how anyone realistic would have expected.

we will be a lot better in year 4 and 5. There is lots of talent here.

But, but, but:

The problem Schiano faces is that the talent Rutgers presently recruits doesn't come close to matching league rivals especially in the East division of the Big Ten.Failure to win league home games certainly impacts recruiting and the perception of the football program to donors.

Believe we had the 6th or 7th ranked recruiting class in BIG last year and that's with Wimstatt reclassifying. That's not horrible.
Yes not Ohio state or Michigan talent but ahead of every team on the west per rivals

Yes, people are overreacting. And yes, the schedule is tough this year. But when everyone looked at the schedule, this seemed like a winnable game. It's very disappointing to have it lost it, particularly by a three-score margin. It's perhaps as disappointing that we have shown no offense this year in playing FBS teams.

Agree with OP.. this is why my prediction was just my hope.. that, no matter what the final record was.. that we would see PROGRESS.. improvements in the offense at a minimum and hope that the D holds tough with a cobbled-together LB corps.

That was Fran Brown recruiting class. Its no sure thing the talent brought in from that class doesn't start to transfer out. Now take a look at this years class. That's Greg's. Hope you like it, because next year will be more of the same

If someone told you before the game that we would have 300 passing yards, you would have thought that we would score more than 10 points. Except for 4-5 plays the game was very competitive against a good defensive team. It was hard watching Simon getting pounded, that was the worst part of the game for me with no adjustments.

Come on now. That's hyperbole. Fran is very good but your analysis is simplistic to put it mildly. Par for the course in the week after a loss.

Yeah but muh Leopold and muh Kansas and muh offense is the problem when other team gets 2 turnovers

Also how about when Greg didn't win the BE in triple OT, surely Al Golden would have won that by 6 TDs

For the year, the Leaping Leipolds have 6 fumbles, 3 for a loss. The Swinging Schianos have 4 fumbles, 1 for a loss. Greg wins.

Seriously, when Schiano was hired I looked at 2023 to be the breakout year. And that was before the disaster of the pandemic year. I still think we're on track for that.

People keep calling this a rebuild, in this day don’t think that is correct. Reason being is beacuse your roster can change every year. The foundation blocks you have one year may be gone the next via the transfer portal. It’s all about getting the job done in the current season and putting up “W”.

I optimistically predicted 6-6 on the year. As I said last week until we lose #7 I'm sticking with it.
I still see a good possibility of wins vs. Nebraska and Indiana. Maryland always has the potential to self destruct, I think MSU is over rated and I still won't believe in Minnesota until I see how they do at Penn St. the week before they play us. Outside of Sparty their schedule is very soft. They should be 6-0 and a loss there could deflate their bubble. Plus we get to play them on the road where we play better.
tOSU, MI and PSU are beyond our reach.

We lost a huge opportunity last year by not getting development of Simon underway and sticking with Vedral all season.

Well unless we find a QB that ain’t happening.
And Recruiting is not going well so the timeline needs to be pushed back.

The toughest year, and yet, 2 plays from being potentially 4-0. Also, 2 plays from being 1-3. Yet, we’re 3-1. That’s football
