With me it has never been about the end result. If/when we lose by 16 and B1G play and shoot 3-16 from 3 and play relatively hard I will defend the team's play.
I thought UMASS L got good looks all night and I didn't think we competed hard on the defensive end. Do you disagree?
I'm sorry, but, "didn't compete hard on the defensive end", is just a generic statement to me. It's not the type of statement I can respond to with anything meaningful, especially in a 40 minute game.
My biggest issue regarding some of criticism is the use of generic terms or statements. To me, any type of statement like this should always have a follow-up comment with more specifics and maybe even individual plays.
I'll give an example from last night. Laurent was closing out on a shooter near the 3 point line who received the pass after the ball was passed around the perimeter. The offensive player gave a ball fake, Laurent leaves his feet and the offensive player drove around him for a layup.
Some on this board would immediately shout...."horrible defense, Giving up a layup against a team with High School talent, Jordan has to go"
FIG.......How would you critique Laurent on that play?
Should he be in better position to prevent the pass?
Did he do the right thing, the help defense should have been behind him, ready to step over?
Was he wrong by being overly aggressive on the ball fake ?
