We have 2 terrific players in Sanders and Laurent.....

Yeah!!!
We are so happy!
We beat the #315 team in the country!!
The Bells must ring!
Nobody is saying we should hang a banner for winning last night, but you are posting the same comment multiple times in this thread when one would have sufficed: nice win, weak opponent, let's see what happens in conference.

yes, let us see.

I know the team is young.
Let's see if they are hungry, too.

By far the best offensive performance of the season .Sanders and Grier had outstanding shooting performances with both players scoring at least 20 points. The team also got some balanced scoring from the other players which was the reason for the offensive spurt in the second half.

The player I enjoy watching the most is Sanders. In the last two games he started slow in scoring but really came on strong in the second half. His cross over dribble is dynamic which allows him to beat the defender and set himself for a open jump shot off the dribble.Such a skillset has been missing at Rutgers for a long time but is seen in many players on successful teams.

Sanders on Ferrell
Williams on Blackmon
Grier on Johnson
Foreman on Williams
Lewis on Bryant

We can not have guys playing 36 minutes with the defensive assignments they will have. Jordan must bite the bullet and use the bench and probably play some zone and hope.

Greg Lewis has to come up big. This won't be a game where we can play 4 guards and Laurent. Bryant is 58-76 76.3% from 2 point land. That also sounds like penetration from guards with a drop off dunk for the 6-10 Bryant.

With me it has never been about the end result. If/when we lose by 16 and B1G play and shoot 3-16 from 3 and play relatively hard I will defend the team's play.

I thought UMASS L got good looks all night and I didn't think we competed hard on the defensive end. Do you disagree?

I'm sorry, but, "didn't compete hard on the defensive end", is just a generic statement to me. It's not the type of statement I can respond to with anything meaningful, especially in a 40 minute game.

My biggest issue regarding some of criticism is the use of generic terms or statements. To me, any type of statement like this should always have a follow-up comment with more specifics and maybe even individual plays.

I'll give an example from last night. Laurent was closing out on a shooter near the 3 point line who received the pass after the ball was passed around the perimeter. The offensive player gave a ball fake, Laurent leaves his feet and the offensive player drove around him for a layup.

Some on this board would immediately shout...."horrible defense, Giving up a layup against a team with High School talent, Jordan has to go"

FIG.......How would you critique Laurent on that play?

Should he be in better position to prevent the pass?
Did he do the right thing, the help defense should have been behind him, ready to step over?
Was he wrong by being overly aggressive on the ball fake ?

People get hurt every year and we were a bad team with a full squad. And we have no recruiting class.

The next two months are going to be rough.

Correction.....team was down 2, even before the injuries.

I just counted......this is your 15th time posting "no recruits", even though there is a spring period and Rutgers leads or is the predicted destination for some very good recruits that add pieces that the team currently lacks..

Do you know there is a spring period?
Do you know Rutgers got Freeman and Laurent as spring recruits?

Here's 16. No recruits in the fall means you are chasing players. How many other Big Ten schools with 4 open ships signed no one in the fall.

Okay, Nostradamus. The staff chased Freeman and Laurent right to campus. ;Anyone offering a final criticism of a recruiting year when the 2nd half of the recruiting year is 3 months away is.......I'll be nice....."not too bright".

To be fair not a day after you said its not over with Bashir Ahmed he committed to St Johns. We were not involved for months but you said we were still in it

They had the size and athleticism of a HS team.

A bit of an exaggeration as they did beat a power 5 school in BC (how gad must BC be!) and hung with No. 25 UConn )losing by single digits in the game before RU). I'm not saying UML is good by any stretch, but we've certainly played teams just as bad with far less optimal results. Last night's game was a welcomed change.

BC was decimated from Chipotle!

Just reporting what I saw. High school size.

Did wonder why we don't have a Issac White as a backup PG at RU.

If you could not tell that was a joke, I can't help that. Maybe I need to work on it. When I posted that I had just read on another site that a St. Johns commit was imminent. I absolutely remember when he canceled his visit in September and took Rutgers off his list.

Do you really think it was a coincidence that I posted that 1 day before he committed to St. Johns?

Phil, It is exciting for us to have two outstanding freshmen. They both seem to be getting better all the time. Hopefully we can be healthy next year. We seem to have more injuries in one season than most teams have in 3-5 years. We need relief from these injuries. Hopefully Nigel Johnson will help next year and that Freeman can be injury free. We need a center who can score and at least two more guys who can hit from outside.
Art - thanks....gosh, how can I forget about Nigel Johnson.....:).....

By the way Wake beat LSU on the road with the kid Simmons who is supposed to be a top ten pick. Wake has beaten LSU,UCLA and of course Indiana. Maybe if the crowd shows up and is loud we could win tomorrow.

We could easily be 8-5 right now. This is a very young team. It's a shame with the injuries. I thought this team could make some noise once they gel a bit. Let's see how they look on Wednesday.

and this team could also be 4-9....our record is what it is right now and by seasons end will indicate where the program is headed

For sure. I think we pull out some big ten wins, maybe 2-4. Ifthe season doesn't end well, I think Coach Jordan has one more year to show something. If he can't show anything next year with decent players, he will probably be let go.
