I forget exactly but we were over #180 before the Drexel game and at this moment we are at #169 now. We just need to keep moving on up.

Crazy stat....we are 27th in effective height. Thinking about last year that is almost inconceivable. Effective height is height times minutes played. This number probably will come down. Our players won't shrink, but with freeman in foul trouble the minutes went to Sa and the 2 7 footers. However one could argue is Thiam improves and plays more it would make it go up.

Just wondering, if we started out #191, what would be good goal to end the year with this team? Do we crack the 100 plateau? Is it possible?

Hoping for a win over DePaul. Guessing a move in Kenpom up to low 150s with a win.

DePaul is#183. If on a neutral site a 1 point win would hurt our rankings.

The man has us losing 77-74.

Billy Garrett is a preseason 2nd Team All Big East selection. He was Depaul's 2nd leading scorer a year ago. He is likely to be the best player on the floor. Eli Cain (NJ kid-St Benedicts) was Depaul's third leading scorer a year ago and was an All-Big East frosh last season. Cain can shoot the three really well. McCallum is new and a JuCo kid and Docks is a 5th year kid who had a nice stretch at Western Kentucky (started his career at Butler). Leitao is a good HC and Depaul will be a well coached squad.

Not saying we can't win this game because we can. But this is a big step up from Drexel.

Effective height!!?? That's a real stat!?? Holy crap the world's gone crazy!!

What is kenpom and why do we care what our ranking is after two games? Serious question, as I always see people on this site talking about kenpom, but I really don't know what the metrics are.

GRF, any word yet on our Effective Width ranking? With Gettys, Doorson and Bullock we must be in the top 10!

My "vertical effectiveness" has declined. I'm going to lie down.

Garrett is a fine player. Seems like he has been there forever. Has given the Hall fits for all his time at DePaul. Extra motivation I suppose.

Their starting five seems to be lazy on defense. Lots of fouls. Early in the season, they ran 7 kids total. Garret is a strong driver, but has a very subpar three point shot. Back off him. Give him a little space off the 3pt line. I like Eli Cain a lot because he is Jersey bred. I hope he has a good game, but his team loses.

DePaul has big talented guards, but they are small in the front court. Their biggest starter is 6'7". They didn't play either of the their 6-10 guys in their first game. One is a freshman who probably was not ready and the other is a senior who has never been a big contributor. RU will need to exploit their lack of size in the inside game.

I like the analysis. Lets outrebound them.

Just asking. They were a bad team last year. They are universally picked to finish last in the Big East. If they have decent players and a good coach, what holds them back?

I read DePaul's season preview from the Chicago Tribune ... they were bad last year (same level as when we were in the Big East, and we were bad but still would beat them) and are supposed to be worse this year. Lost talent, the re-hired their old coach, so hopefully it's a Throwback Thursday and we take them down without too much worry. For the record, they have played 1 game, they barely beat Robert Morris 78-71.

They may very well turn out to be a middling to bad basketball team. In fact if asked I would likely side with those experts who feel that way about Depaul. I do tend to let more of the season play out before deciding who I think is good or not. Simply was trying to give a high level overview of Deapul.

They would beat Drexel. Of that I am fairly certain.
