Yes, I think the turn around of Rutgers changed everything in the football world for the CUSE! When we got Rice and Leonard we over came them and it has not changed since! They just never recovered from that, but I do believe Babers can do some great things there. Only problem is they are in the ACC. There is some good football there with Clemson, Florida State and I even like NC this year, but the rest of the conference is pretty much ho hum! Miami and Virgina Tech have fallen off. BC is lost in the water. So yeah the Cuse could find themselves in a bowl game the next couple of years.Would you attribute the downfall of Syracuse football to Schiano and the rise of Rutgers, or G-Rob, or a little of both? There was a flash of hope under Marrone, but that faded as soon as Mr. Isis took over.
Playing a ranked PAC12 team on the other side of the country gives us better media exposure and helps build the brand. For all the talk of Rutgers and Syracuse being New York's teams, nobody in NYC outside of alumni would be excited to see them play.Syracuse would be a little cheaper and easier just saying
This would be my question for Politi:
The Rutgers opening game is just days away. There are so many interesting things you could write about, and this is your topic?
Jerry
Teams we should never, and I mean never play again. BC, Cuse,Uconn,or Pitt.
:cool:RU home/home v Cal
RU home/home v A&M
RU home/home v FSU
RU home/home v Texas
RU home/home v UCLA
RU home/home v Ole Miss
RU home/home v NC State
These type of series over a 20 year period...
They weren't blow out losses and SU weren't favorited to win any of them. My point was made. That USC team went 7-6 and was the only team in the last 50 years to start at #1 and finish unranked. PSU went 7-5 and as far as Notre Dame, you may be right. The game might have been different if not for those five turnovers.
It might also have been different if you scored more than them, but you never know.
No BC, No Syracuse, No anyone who abandoned us in the Big East. F(orget) them!
But thanks for giving me the opportunity to post teh results of the last 10 Rutgers-Syracuse games..

Louisville is ranked and is very good. Miami will be good this year. One of the top QB's in the country. Pitt has one of the best offensive lines and backfield in the county. Your only good as your last game or in this case last several. [roll][roll][roll] people don't care about things from 20 years ago. Even Flood beat SU. That's bad.How you gonna go back in history but leave out most of it? lol You had for years of dominance. Thats not a lot.

I agree and 2006 was a decade ago. You havent done anything more special than SU has done the last 7 years.Your only good as your last game or in this case last several. [roll][roll][roll] people don't care about things from 20 years ago.
Your right about Miami. I just think Richt is a good coach and will bring consistency. UNC and Louisville are very good. UNC had Clemson on the ropes last year. GT almost beat FSU a few years ago. Its not a 2 conference team. V tech is not great but they beat Ohio st at their place. This is pretty much the same line we hear every year about the ACC, give or take a couple of names switched here and there. And every year - Florida State/Clemson and .... NO ONE!!
Miami has been in "gonna be good", "this time it really is their year" mode since it left the BE, lulz.
I think Pitt will pick up their game within the next few years. This is pretty much the same line we hear every year about the ACC, give or take a couple of names switched here and there. And every year - Florida State/Clemson and .... NO ONE!!

Would love to know why anyone in charge at RU thought it was a good idea to open the season on the West coast against quality opponents 3 of the last 4 years.
Love it when you go there.Could not agree more!! Rutgers needs to look south and schedule ACC and SEC teams...occasional PAC and steer 10 teams...we've got the north covered...exposure to areas where football really matters! New England and NY? Bitch, please!
I can think of one thing. One B1G thing.I agree and 2006 was a decade ago. You havent done anything more special than SU has done the last 7 years.
I say play Temple.. they can recruit NJ based on proximity anyway and their home games can be our home games in that NFL stadium. Maybe we can get a 3 for 2 out of them too.. without paying them to play here because we would bring a lot of paying fans to the vet for their home games. Some of us told this board, 3 years ago, that we WOULD NOT be scheduling UConn, Syracuse, BE or Pitt, under the previous regime. We weren't bs'ing you guys! Flood DID NOT want to schedule local teams who could recruit NJ well, or better than him, and he put the "no, no, no" on scheduling them. I actually agreed with Flood on this point lol!
How you gonna go back in history but leave out most of it? lol You had four years of dominance. Thats not a lot.

You are right Money! I spoke to quick. Pitt will be a lot better and totally forgot about Louisville. I'm not sure about Georgia Tech yet.Louisville is ranked and is very good. Miami will be good this year. One of the top QB's in the country. Pitt has one of the best offensive lines and backfield in the county. GT will be improved
Games against the frozen fruit from central NY should not even be entertained during the regular season...other than a short road trip it, it measures zip in the interest scale...our relationship with that school is dead...let it remain in the bin of history...
The ACC was so focused on basketball that they made a horrible decision by not getting RU when they were available. Now, they have no footprint in the Balt-NYC corridor that has 20mm+ people, and their northern outposts of Syr and BC will die on the vine due to lack of fb recruits and fan interest.I would love to see RU/SU begin playing again. Let's face it we are probably never going to win our division in the Big in the next 10-15 years, but we could get some wins over a regional former rival even if Cuse never considered us a rival.
I agree and 2006 was a decade ago. You havent done anything more special than SU has done the last 7 years.
Are you calling Syracuse a prostitute? Cheaper and easier?[roll] How much are they charging for a fruit job? What about a reach-around?Syracuse would be a little cheaper and easier just saying

“In that case,” said Napoleon, “let us wait twenty minutes; when the enemy is making a false movement we must take good care not to interrupt him.”
Ok so then I can pick the last 4 games. 2-2. dont brag about beating a bad team. You did what you were suppose to be doing and what ever other team did in the Big East did during the Grob tenure.I posted the truth, in the last ten games Rutgers was 7-3. I did not pick 5 ot 7 or 13 games, picked a round number.
You post ancient history.
No reason to play the fruit. Why don't you guys schedule your next wake forest home game for the meadowlands... that should give you some nice jersey access.
